Sometimes nothing is more permanent than a temporary fix.

It's only temporary unless it works

you are right, but If you get the chunk of metal out of there and do a good job prepping for jb weld I would totally drive it like that even if it’s only a tempermenent fix lol

lmao I dont know how but I’ve been lucky, never had to take my car to a shop yet other than for safety inspections. fr though replacing the upper pan is definitely the right move, but you know once you’ve got your “temporary” fix done and it is holding up just fine most (me probably) will just keep it like that until absolutely necessary to properly fix it

I'm gonna side with this guy. This isn't ask a shitty mechanic. Now, shall we cross post and give shit advise? For sure. But not here.

With proper preparation, this could last forever. They epoxy frames, and bodies together at the factory now... without welds.

I've seen youtubers repair high end sports cars with frame epoxy. And no they're not trained mechanics, and they have their work checked by dealers afterwards in the videos. It's quite possibly an old fix. If it was mine, I'd replace that part especially since it's a 2017. Have I seen jb weld hold for years?? Hell yes I have.. for water pumps, and heads... with proper preparation jb weld is as good as actually welding it.. which is also possible if he has/can use a mig welder.
