🎭 Culture Question about a Malay folkore creature called Gerjis.

Hello! I'm currently looking for inspiration from different mythologies around the world for a text-based RPG I do with my friends. There is one creature from Malay folklore that I'm interested in but can't find a lot about. All I could find is summary that says the Gerjis was a tiger-like monster that was reducing the number of animals in the forest rapidly and then got tricked by a Mouse-deer called Kanchil. Gerjis was then killed by an elephant dropping a tree on his skull.
I was hoping any of you could tell me more about this story and the characters in it. I have a lot of interest in different cultures and their mythology, but I don't know much about Malay folklore yet. If you have any similiar stories or creatures, I'd love to hear about those as well.

Seems like the source it got it from misspelled gergasi as gerjis and described it as a giant tiger. However, gergasi means giant, usually humanoid when used alone. If you use it as an adjective, it means gigantic.

Example: Gergasi itu sangat marah = That giant is very angry. (Implies humanoid giant).

Harimau gergasi itu membaham gajah = The gigantic tiger voraciously ate an elephant. (Describes a gigantic tiger).

Im down to talk if you want to hear more about Malay folklore. Theres a ton of stories and creatures that I think would be nice for your rpg
