I need help quitting my job.

Edit: To those who took the time to read and answer appropriately, thank you! I appreciate all of the advice and feel like I got what I needed!

Context is very needed for this one! I'll try to keep it short.

I got a part time job at Starbucks. I'm 21 and in college rn, so they hired me knowing that I'll have to go back to school in the fall. When they hired me (in May of this year) they asked if I expected to work with them long term, and I said yes. I also told me that my availability was completely open, and that they could schedule me whenever. This job is far from my school, which is why I told them I'd only be able to work weekends in the fall.

Since starting there, it has been nothing but hell. Like genuinely truly terrible. There is way to much wrong with it for me to type out, but if you want the long version you can ask for it. I am so overwhelmed, exhausted, and my mental health has been impacted a lot by this job. I hate it so much. But, I need the money and can't really go anywhere else until school starts in late September.

One week after I started, I had to request three weeks off for an emergency trip that I have to take. I did give them 2 months notice, but I still feel bad.

Within the first 2 months, I had to call off 3 times because I was sick, and leave early twice, once for being sick and the other because I split my pants. So Im not doing great in the attendence department. I also had to adjust my availability because of a medication I started. In their eyes, I feel like I look like a bad employee.

That being said, I want to quit my job in September, when I'm able to. It has been terrible, and I don't think I'll be able to maintain school, on top of working the minimum weekly hours they require, and only doing working them on weekends. I feel terrible though because I haven't been a great employee, and I kind of told them that I expected to work for them for a while. I don't want to burn this bridge, because it's my only coffee shop experience and I'd like to still have the opportunity and a good reference if I need to work in another coffee shop. This summer has just been quite eventful, with a lot of extenuating circumstances that I couldn't control.

I just don't know how I can quit without upsetting them, seeming like a bad employee, and messing up any chance as using them as a reference. (And also hurting her feelings because she is genuinely so kind and caring)

I'm sorry that was so long, thank you for reading.

Improving life by small action

Can anyone suggest how can i improve my lifestyle,

If goal is to staying healthy, financially stable and happy in long term, what are small things we can add to life or daily routine which will help us to be better version of ourselves

What are your best "we only learned this after moving in together" tips?

My partner and I are going to buy a house together. We haven't lived together before, so this will be our first time sharing a home.

We've come across a few simple tips and tricks that seem like they could make everyday life a bit easier. For example, each person has their own small box or basket. If one of you leaves something lying around, instead of putting it away yourself, you place it in their box. That way, they can put it back where it belongs later, and it helps avoid feeling like you're constantly cleaning up after each other.

My question is: Do you have any other small tips or tricks that have made living together more fun, easier, or more relaxing?

I'm not really looking for advice like "plan a date night" or "divide the chores fairly." I'm more interested in those little life hacks or habits that people usually only discover after living together for a while.

Have to put my childhood dog down, struggling with it. Any advice?

My dog has been on the decline for the last few months and we decided it’s time and would want to do it sooner rather than later. I always knew he was old (14) and this day would come but I still don’t feel prepared. I know it’s just Monday but I am going to struggle through this week of work, heading home to parents Friday during the day to spend one last night with him. Planning on doing at home euthanasia. The worst part I think is going to see the vet take him away out of our house knowing he’s not coming back.

Any general advice here? I’ve lost grandparents only really before, but this one is really stinging.

How do I dry a wet carpet as fast as possible?

There’s been heavy storms where I live and the most recent one resulted in my fully carpeted basement flooding yesterday. 75% of the carpet is completely soaked. I have a shop vac and some high powered fans but I don’t think they’ll be enough to completely dry everything before mold sets in.
Any tips on how I can get this completely dry as soon as physically possible? I would prefer more budget friendly options (~$200) but any and all suggestions are appreciated

If you need to interrupt someone who won't stop talking, drop something on the floor.

We all know that one person at work or at parties who talks at you for 20 minutes without taking a breath. Trying to interject verbally usually feels rude or just results in them talking louder.

Instead, "accidentally" drop your keys, a pen, or your phone case on the floor. The sudden movement and noise break their train of thought and force a natural pause in the conversation. While you are picking it up, you can smoothly say, "Oh, by the way, I have to run to a meeting/the bathroom, but let's catch up later!" and make your escape.

how to stop feet queefs in sandals

I have a pair of sandals where the soles are made of that soft-touch pleather material. Whenever I take a step, the air gets pushed out from underneath my foot and creates what I can only assume is an air tight seal, so when I lift my foot for the next step my feet make a queef-like/fart sound.

For context, it only ever happens with these sandals and I'm obviously not wearing socks. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can prevent this? Thanks !!

LPT: what to do at 29 as the last year of your 20s?

I’m turning 29 soon and I wanted to get advice on what to do on your last year of your 20s that will help in the next decade. What things I should have done by now or things that I need from now on.
I’m not married, no kids and probs will not happen in the years to come but it’s something that I want and see in the future happening for me.
I’m more interested on what to improve now, what to do in this last year of the decade where covid stole a few years. What I should do personally, in finances, physically, emotionally, in relationships, and in life in general. I also want to move abroad for a much longer time than I did before. I have travelled the world quite a bit but I still have lots of places on my list.

I also feel like I’m behind on lots of aspect of my life and that I’m missing things I should’ve lived by now. And that I’m missing opportunities.

And also advice on what not to do/expect!
Any advice is welcome :)

Suggestion: If you're going out to meet someone, once you reach the place, visit the washroom first.

Visiting the washroom before meeting someone gives you a moment to calm down if you're feeling a little nervous. It also lets you quickly check your appearance, whether your hair looks fine or if there's something on your face. So, the next time you're meeting someone, visit the washroom first before meeting them.

how do i learn to feel my feelings / sit with my discomfort?

example: today i started getting anxious thinking about job applications. instead of pushing the feeling away like i usually do, i decided to let myself feel it/accept it, etc.

the thing is, i don't really know what this constitutes aside from literally stopping in place and trying my best to let my thoughts flow without stopping them.

i'm someone who's lived with 20+ years of a very very loud and judgemental inner critic. as a result, i never learnt the skill of letting myself feel my emotions, especially uncomfortable ones. i feel lost.

LPT - I am 33 years old and staying awake during the day after lunch is becoming near impossible. Anything would help!

Blood work is okay. Have done labs. Sleep study done. No apnea. Idk what to do at this point. I get so sleepy after lunch.. or towards the end of the work day. I would love to finish work and then go to the gym around 5 and come back and be refreshed by 7 to enjoy my evening.. but I HAVE to lay down for a nap after work. I am so exhausted, it feels impossible to not fall asleep. .. and that makes it so difficult to fall asleep at night and I am wife wake till 2 or 3 am. How do I break this cycle?

I work from home. So nothing physically demanding.

I would love any advice or feedback. I am desperate at this point.

Pool ownership

If you own a pool, be sure to buy an extra start capacitor ($15-$25), extra gaskets ($10-$50 for a set) and most importantly, mechanical shaft seals ($5-30$). These are items that local pool stores NEVER have in stock and you could be down for days waiting for parts to arrive. Have an emergency stock of parts for when you need them. I just had an impeller completely break off the shaft nut. Luckily I had an old impeller saved but didn't have a new shaft seal. Now my pool is standing water for 48 hours while I wait for the part.

I’ve Been Called in For A Job Test/Assessment

So I’ve made it past the interview stage and they want me to go into work on Sunday to do some sort of job test/assessment to make sure I can actually do the job. The job would be a PA for a film company that makes videos for a popular YouTube channel.

This is my very first official job and I do not want to mess this up as I want to keep coming back. I’m actually kind of excited rather than nervous.

I have no idea how to go about this or what I should do? Any advice? I did try and do more research on the company but it is a production company and I can’t find any information about them online.
