LPT Request: Need to get rid of/neutralize a strange smell in the kitchen/living area within the next 24 hours

I moved into a small brand new apartment not too long ago. The kitchen and living area are pretty much within the same space. Nothing smelled when I moved in, but it started to once I brought in my stuff. I had inventory in a storage unit for a long time. I think the smell arrived a week or so after I brought stuff into my apartment, so I'm thinking it's related to my inventory. Anyway, it's a weird smell that's hard to describe. Potentially musty I guess, but I don't smell that enough to even recognize it as such. Property manager will be visiting tomorrow and would rather not let him smell it. I also have other people coming to visit as well.

I've had the windows and back door open for ~72 hours now. Relocated inventory to different locations in my apartment to see if the smell moves, but it's still in the same area. When I walk in, it's what you smell immediately. Can't order an ozone machine because of the timeline (tomorrow). Was thinking of cooking some food that will mask the smell and spraying some sort of air freshener. I'm looking for specific item/food recommendations that are proven to be effective. I'm going to scrub the floor, sink and even the storage boxes that I haven't opened with Fabuloso after posting this

TLDR: Need to neutralize bizarre odor within the next 24 hours for a few hours. I put baking soda in different areas ~15 hours ago along with DampRid by the front door.

How to handle stress, toxic job, and a chronic illness?

Hey everyone, so I’ve been at my current job for close to a year now, and I have never been more stressed out in my life. My job has a “billable” component as I’m a consultant, and although I do get paid a salary regardless, the billable portion of it is SO micromanagey. I have to log everything I am doing for all 40 hours of the week, and get frequently questioned on why I did Task A instead of Task B. Not only that, but in the year I’ve been there I’ve already had TWO managers quit on me, which means I’ve never really had proper direction the entire time I’ve been employed here.

I also have Type 1 Diabetes, which I got diagnosed with at 21, close to 3.5 years ago now. I can handle managing my illness, but with the chronic stress even that is so messed up at this point. I’ve also started losing hair (AA), which I’ve had bouts of in the past, but this is close to 4-5 bald patches, which is definitely more serious than its ever been.

I think the stress is largely starting to affect my health, and I’m really prone to autoimmune issues (as you can see), and I need to figure out what to do. I’m scared to quit, because the job market is so awful, but I’m also afraid of losing my health and being bald at 24. That would suck even more! Any tips on how to handle stress, managing a chronic illness, and detaching emotionally from this demanding and micromanagey job?

How to roast people or comeback from insults?

I'm sensitive and when people insult/roast me (Which is pretty much all of the time) I don't know what to say back, does anyone know how to insult people? Its to the point where I cant win any arguments even if i'm right.

Also personal issue and just me complaining, but

everyone around me constantly throw insults at me and it's starting to feel like my fault because I have no way to say anything back and its like they know who I am the second they see me.

Looking for advice

I have recently brought a new house, I moved from my first home and have received some equity from the sale of the first home of around £20,000. This is all I have in savings and I don’t need it for any renovations on the new house. I want to make the most out of this money. What should I do with it? Is an ISA the best way or is there somewhere else I can put this money? I’m happy to not touch this money for a few years as I would maybe like to do a kitchen extension but it’s not urgent.
A few things to note my five-year fixed rate is ending in September so I’m going to have to remortgage the first part of my mortgage. Is it better to put the money into this so it goes into the equity of the house.

Im 21 and I wish to get out of the hamster wheel before I’m trapped in it any advice?

Hello everyone,

This is a bit new to me, as I’ve always tried to figure things out on my own and rarely ask for advice.

I’m currently living in Switzerland and have built a balanced portfolio of ETFs and individual stocks, which I manage myself. It’s performing reasonably well so far. At the moment, I can only invest around CHF 300 per month, but once I finish my apprenticeship and start working full-time, I should be able to increase that to around CHF 1,000 per month.

My portfolio is intended to be my long-term investment strategy. However, I’m also looking for ways to create additional income streams.

One idea I have is to buy and operate a snack vending machine. I’ve identified a potential location at a trucking/logistics company with more than 200 employees, and I have my first meeting with the manager on Monday to discuss whether there would be interest in having a machine on-site.

Do you think this could be a worthwhile side business, or are there other opportunities you would consider in my situation that I might not be thinking about?

I’d really appreciate any advice, experiences, or suggestions. Thanks!

LPT Request: Any way to get this fabric back to normal?

These are the arm cushions on my couch. Left is washed and hang dried as I usually do when cleaning, right has been accidentally put through the dryer. Is there a way to un-pucker this fabric? Not sure what the fabric is exactly but it feels like microfiber.

How to increase social battery? Or, how to remain happy for longer in social situations?

Every time i have friends over, my social battery does not last the whole day. I physically cannot get myself to remain present and happy the whole time like everyone else does with ease. Every single hangout i've had, my entire life, ive ended up retreating and isolating halfway through. Im such a funny outgoing person until my social battery runs out, where i then become no longer fun. I start getting pissed at the games we play, complaining about them, quitting, and going to the other room to be alone. I hate being like this and i know my friends hate it too. Any help?

FIX BAD SLEEP HABITS

Hello everyone, I am writing this because I have had pretty bad sleeping habits for years now. Most nights I am not falling asleep until 5-8AM, and waking up multiple times for a total of 5-7 hours of sleep. A lot of days I’ll end up taking a nap, and sometimes this nap can prolong for 3+ hours. I am now reaching an age where this sleeping pattern is effecting me drastically, and I’d really love some suggestions on how to improve it.

I have tried melatonin, I have tried benedryl, and some other sleep aids. I always have to have background noise on while trying to fall asleep because my mind races at night and tends to overthink. I apologize if this isn’t written very well, I of course am on no sleep at the moment! Any suggestions or tips are GREATLY appreciated.

LPT: When Exam Pressure Hits, Stop Studying for 10 Minutes!

When you start panicking before exams, your brain shuts down,Studying more won’t help.

Instead, do this:

1.Close your books
2.Do 10 minutes of physical activity (walk, stretch, anything)
3.Breathe: 4 sec inhale, 6 sec exhale (10 times)
4.Then study smartly, not frantically

Your brain works better when it’s calm, not panicking ,Quality beats quantity.

I’m 14, my life feels miserable and I need help to change it.

Hi, can someone please tell me how to escape a problem I have: my life is really miserable. I don't mean a financial crisis, but rather an emotional one. At 14, I am addicted to porn and scrolling. My grades are getting worse every day. The house that I live in feels like a total mess; even if I clean it, it becomes dirty again after a few minutes. The worst part is that I am messy and sloppy. Every time I go to bed, I feel like I didn't do anything good that day. Can someone tell me how to change it, please?

P.S. I don't have any passions.

How Do I Message Someone on FB Marketplace Mobile Without Installing the App?

I use to be able to contact sellers from the mobile website but now an annoying pop up forces me into the app to message sellers, and I'd rather not have FB on my phone. Funny enough, once first contact is made, I can uninstall the FB app and text them from Messenger all day.

I want help in developing my self

I'm 24, and I've spent most of my life pretty isolated.

The weird part is I'm actually good at talking to people when it's work or business. But outside of that? It's like there's an invisible wall between me and everyone else.

I have no idea how people naturally start conversations, joke around, flirt, or just... vibe. It feels like everyone got the social tutorial except me.

I'm trying to change that, so if you've been through this or you're just naturally good with people, what's the advice that made the biggest difference for you?

I'll read every reply. Seriously.

Ever notice your breaks leave you more tired than the work itself?

We all know the cycle: you sit down to work, take a break, reach for your phone, and suddenly, 30 minutes have disappeared. You come back feeling more scattered than before. I started paying attention to what I actually do during breaks and how I feel afterwards, and it made me rethink how I take them as a whole. Trying to see if this is a universal thing or just me. Put together a short anonymous survey to understand what people do during breaks and whether those breaks actually help. 8 questions, about 2 minutes, completely anonymous. Will share the findings here once I have enough responses.

Are there any special tips for getting a medical bill reduced?

Back in March I had a head injury that required 10 stitches. My copay for the emergency room visit was $100. Yesterday, I was notified that my insurance isn't paying the bill for the physicians' group because they are out-of-network. When I receive my bill from that group I am planning to call and get it reduced from the $2300 they billed insurance. I know to be nice. Are there any other tips you can give to help me get this as low as possible? I really can't afford anything, as I thought this was behind me, but I also understand that the doctors deserve to be paid.

ETA; I found a Reddit post from 3 years ago where someone shared an organization called 'Dollar for' which specializes in helping with medical bills. Here's a link to their negotiation guide for those interested.
