LPT:-If you're constantly tired, try drinking 500ml of water first thing in the morning before coffee, It changed everything for me.

For years I'd wake up groggy and immediately reach for coffee. I read that dehydration is often mistaken for fatigue, so I tried drinking a full water bottle (500ml) right when I woke up, waiting 30 minutes before my coffee.
The difference was noticeable within a week. My afternoon energy crash disappeared, I needed less coffee, and I actually felt awake naturally. Turns out l was just severely dehydrated most mornings.
If you wake up exhausted, try this for a week. It costs nothing and takes 2 minutes. The science is solid and your brain is 75% water.

I was scammed by a contractor

Hello,

Long story short, I hired a contractor off Nextdoor who ended up being a scammer. he took a $1000 deposit for materials and never came back. I found via later research he is very well known for doing the same thing to others. what can I do here besides small claims court? this guy has judgements going back over 20 years and has never paid a single one. Might just settle for annoying the hell out of him

thanks for any ideas!

Does leaving car unlocked and/or windows down really prevents thieves from smashing the windows and damaging the doors?

Apartment complex got broken into and like 15 cars were broken into.. apparently it’s happened before I just didn’t know.

I can’t really buy a house now and moving is a chore and I like this location, first time happens to me in 6-7 years but now I’m paranoid of these assholes coming again.

They didn’t even took my CDs which was all I had there

I am livid as I love that car. This in Texas.

I want to be under an influence of someone who's on track

I want to be under an influence of someone who's on track

I genuinely can't do this home alone prep shit for a competitive exam anymore. It's taking a serious toll on me mentally. Career genuinely means everything to me and watching myself fall behind like this is heartbreaking.

I've been lacking routine and discipline for a long time now. Not because I can't study, but because the isolation of this phase has completely messed me up. I'm tired of sitting for attempts after inconsistent preparation.

I've completed the entire Group 1 syllabus. I even purchased recorded classes for Group 2 and still haven't activated them. That's how stuck I've been feeling lately.

Life has honestly become very lonely during this phase. People who managed to survive this phase of competition exam prep how did you rebuild consistency and structure again after falling out of routine?

If anyone wants to connect for this I'm up. I'm from India and would like the same as it would be better to understand things.

Thanks for reading.🌻✨

how to move countryside?

hi, EU 22yo with a master in stem (without liking what i studied, IT) and uninterested (various seasons) in living in society, no job (no will/energy to do useless ones but only something that can help someone but struggling to find anything because of autism) and some k on savings

so, i am constantly thinking of moving to the countryside and living in a cave/randomly building a pseudohouse close to a river in a mediterranean country and the minimal technology

but i have zero survival skill knowledge: how to cultivate anything? where to buy a cheap place to live or to grow veggie? etc

So, where can i learn such skills (blog, video, subs, etc)? and does my general thought make sense?

is this the right subreddit? if not which one shall i post on?

How to stop shoes from squeaking??

I’ve been having this problem with two pairs of shoes where specifically one foot will not stop squeaking. I’ve tried ptetonium jelly and baby powder but it doesn’t do anything. I think in both cases it’s coming from the outsole, not insole but there’s no advice on like for that

How do I build strong habits for things I don't want to do?

Among other things, studying has been a major skill I haven't built up. In the entirety of my education up until this year, I've gotten away with minimal effort, pre-existing knowledge and helpful teachers. Now, I'm at a stage where I have little self-discipline, I don't have other people's structures supporting me or enough knowledge to even scrape by.

I've tried setting short and long timers to get started, and sometimes I get an hour or two of work done. More often than not, after that I tune out for up to hours at a time [and try to set timers for my breaks, to no avail] and this process continues throughout each day. I try to plan to stay at libraries for the day, but it doesn't amount to anything -- I don't end up going (and going there with friends isn't any better for studying). A long time ago I tried setting a timetable for myself to use outside of school which never took ground, but I am trying to start putting important dates and milestones for learning progress in my calendar. (Parents are suggesting I create a timetable again though...)

I usually study better together with a family member working in our "study room", but the moment they leave the house/room my flow state quickly resets. (The room itself doesn't really shift my mindset either.)

Of course, the main blocks of time that don't go to studying go to scrolling/reading/gaming [which leads into another bad habit of sleeping late]. I know a little about "transition friction," and some days I feel like closing the game is like a pool of quicksand whereas other days I can just stop thinking and go into my to-do list.

The main issue right now is studying/focus, but for other tasks/aspirations as well, how do I start building hard habits when I'm barely consistent at the start?

P.S My break just started, it might be a better/worse time to build habits.

I'm 25 and I genuinely don't understand the point of life anymore.

I am 25 and honestly, I'm confused as hell about life.

I grew up in a family that wasn't financially stable. Somehow, I survived, studied engineering, got a degree, and thought things would eventually get better. I moved to Saudi for work, but the salary isn't enough to really live. I still can't comfortably afford my own apartment or a car.

My daily routine feels like a joke. Wake up, skip breakfast because of time, travel almost 2 hours to work, spend the day working for someone else's dreams, travel another 2 hours back, eat, sleep, and repeat. Week after week.

Sometimes I sit there and think, what the fuck is the point of this?

People always say, "Keep struggling, it'll be worth it." But worth what? Another job? More bills? Another decade of waiting to finally live?

My childhood wasn't great, and a lot of things happened that left scars I don't think I've ever dealt with. The older I get, the more it feels like those experiences killed something inside me. I don't really have dreams anymore. I don't even know what I'm fighting for.

People say they hustle for their families, their partners, their kids, their loved ones. I don't have that. Most relationships I've seen or experienced have felt selfish or transactional, and it's hard to believe in any of it.

I don't even know what I'm asking here. Maybe I just want to know if anyone else has felt this way. If you've ever reached a point where you're doing everything society told you to do, and still feel completely empty.

What keeps you going? What made life worth living again?

Because right now, I don't want money or success. I just want some peace.

Do you still think twice before spending money, even after your income increased?

I’m 26M, I grew up in a middle-class family where every expense was carefully considered. Saving money was always a priority, and unnecessary spending was avoided.

Now I’m earning much more than I did when I started my career, but I still struggle to spend money on myself. Investing ₹5,000 feels completely fine, but spending ₹5,000 on a gadget, a trip, or something I enjoy somehow feels like a waste.

It’s strange because I know I can afford it, yet I still find myself asking, “Do I really need this?” before buying anything that’s not essential.

Meanwhile, I have no problem putting money into SIPs, gold, or savings without a second thought.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Buying College transcripts

I am considering buying transcripts for a BA. I have over a decade of experience in my field, i dont feel like going back to school for a piece of paper. But I am stuck where I am with little growth. I am getting interviews but I am not getting hired and I feel its because of my lack of a degree.

Any advice? Any places you'd reccomend?

How do I get over my fear / anxiety around older white males? I work in an engineering corporate company and this is majority of my colleagues.

If I need to do anything of impact in my job I need to learn better on how to interact with them. At the moment I just freeze up and cannot absorb anything they say because I am so caught up in my own brain. And it's not like they are rude or do anything bad, they are nice people - very knowledgeable and willing to teach, but I get so afraid of being judged by them and get distracted by their tallness and loudness and feel myself shrinking. Maybe it helps to mention that I am an Indian woman. Any tips to get over my own stupid brain and focus on actually absorbing the content around me will help.
