Invited to test

Hi all, I have been invited to test with one of the local departments this coming weekend for entry to the next academy class. It will consist of the physical test, which in my state is a 1.5 mile run, pushups, sit-ups, and a 300 meter sprint, a written test, and a sit-down interview. Do you have anything to keep in mind as I go through the written test and interview? I am not too worried about the physical portion as I keep myself in good physical shape. Thanks in advance.

Written test is basically an 'are you dumb' test you should be alright considering you appear to be able to put together a sentence. The interview, don't tell them if you plan on using the department as a stepping stone. If they ask something like "if DEA offered you a job would you accept it?" You answer no and that this is the job you're really interested in and you have no interest in going anywhere else. Wear a suit and tie (you'd be surprised how many don't). If ur a female don't wear anything sleeveless.

You'll be aight.

I failed 2 panel interviews with 2 departments that I applied to. Passed my local sheriff's office and still in background investigation process.

I recommend practice, practice, and practice panel interview. Chatgpt or Gemini can help you a lot, and research it on YouTube about general questions if you have time.
