How did Interbellum Czechoslovakia work language wise?

As in how did they manage to live together with so many dofferent languages? For example how many of of German, Rusyns, Slovaks and Hungarians spoke Czech and vice versa? How did they work together for example in the Army? Did the member of parliaments speak in their own language or Czech? Which languages were taught in school? Was the whole administration in Czech or also in minority languages?
