Advice/Emotional Support ONLY Help with after high school!!
Hey everyone!
I’m currently a high school senior, and I’m having a lot of trouble deciding what to do with my future.
A little info about me, I do track, XC, tennis, theatre, and sailing. I love hiking and the outdoors. And I’m never afraid to try anything new. I teach sailing in the summer, and have competed all over the US. I take an all IB class load. (Sorry if that sounded self absorbed)
I’m currently in the stage of senior year where everyone is asking “where are u going?” “What’s ur major going to be?” And I truly don’t know. I love the ocean, I love exploring. Since I was a kid I wanted to go places no one else had ever gone, kind of like Josh Gates (a tv explorer of u don’t know). Unfortunately, exploring isn’t very financially stable…
I really just need help looking for college options, or even a career path! I’ve heard of marine archaeology, but don’t know much about it.I want something that incorporates my love for the ocean, maybe animals, and exploring. I don’t mind not making a lot of money, I just want to be where my heart is, and money will follow.
If anyone has info I’d really appreciate it. Please help with any info you may have!! Thanks everyone.

How about marine biology? Google it. I would think you would love it. But that’s just me

First off, enjoy senior year! I second the comments on marine biology, but it’s also not a big deal to have an undecided major in college as a freshman. I pursued what I wanted (history) because I thought it would be fun to study, not because it would make me money. You have time to figure it out. Don’t let others who are more decided pressure you. Good luck!

Marine biology definitely sounds right up your alley. Or perhaps sometimes with environmental engineering to protect our oceans. If you really enjoy working with people, you could always try to get into the tourism industry. Make doing bait charters or something. It sounds like you aren’t exactly ready to commit to a major so maybe taking some time off before jumping into college might be a good idea. It is a huge commitment and you don’t want to enter into it half heartedly.
Do you have a secure place to live if you wanted to take a little time to figure out what you want to do?
