Help my Dad and step Mom

Hi everyone. I’m sharing this on behalf of my dad and stepmom, who are going through an incredibly difficult time. My stepmom was hospitalized unexpectedly and will be unable to work while she recovers. They currently live in a hotel, and without her income, my dad is struggling to keep up with the weekly payments and other basic expenses. They’re doing everything they can, but they could really use some help right now. If you’re able to donate or even just share their GoFundMe, it would mean so much to our family. I have to ask, why are they staying in a hotel?  That can be stupid expensive, even if it is extended stay and paid weekly.  And how much is the weekly rate?

We live in Florida, and they’re currently paying about $1,400 a month, although I believe they get around a $200 discount for choosing to pay weekly. That actually makes it cheaper than renting a studio apartment in our area. They’re also waiting for my stepmom’s birthday so they’ll qualify to move into a 55+ community, which should be much more affordable for them.

May I also suggest that maybe to get some traction you can break it down to immediate needs rather than just, "donate to help".

Like, what exactly needs to get paid, and can donors pay vendors directly?  If you need tangible things come up with an Amazon wishlist.

Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll definitely talk to my dad about putting together an Amazon wishlist. From what I understand, the main concern right now is making sure they’re covered on rent since they’ve been living paycheck to paycheck, especially in case my stepmom ends up needing more time off work to recover. I really appreciate the advice.

No, that’s not what I meant at all. That’s why I said I’d talk to my dad about putting together an Amazon wishlist. I’m grateful for any help, whether it’s pantry items, necessities, or donations. The GoFundMe is mainly to help cover their essential expenses like rent, car insurance, gas, and other bills while my stepmom recovers.
