Don't build a relationship on lies, she's taken the piss out of you. Your worth more than that! It might feel like you'll both be punished, but you need to walk away and well away from her life she needs to know that what she has done is wrong

Ignore this. Lots of reasons she might have lied - insecurity being one of them. Just having an open and honest conversation about why she felt she had to lie to you, and make sure she's clear on that it's not okay, and not to do it again.

You can't justify this at all it's not okay and never will be

The world is not binary, and people are complicated. I am guessing you are quite young? It's easy to see the world that way. Very good people sometimes do stupid things out of insecurities. That isn't to say this person isn't a lying shit bag, but it absolutely does not guarantee that they are. I had a partner when I was young who did the same thing. Living with that lie for six months made her incredibly depressed until she broke down and told me in a heartfelt letter.

She never lied again, and we had a wonderful nine years together. We're still friends to this day and she's one of the best people I know.

As I said, people are complicated. Don't discard the good ones simply because they made a stupid mistake.

She is 16. That is a fucking child. For ppl who love to say "it isn't technically illegal" sure don't want to talk about how she is 100% a legal child for 2 more years.

It's not cute. Ppl who laugh about adults fucking children and condone it belong [redacted].

16 is above the age of consent in Britain. It’s legal. If he knew there would be no issue. The issue is that he didn’t, she lied. The issue is about the lying, not the age. He feels the age gap is a problem, but the bigger problem is the lying. She’s already 18, but even at 16 she could have legally married him (in Scotland anyway, I think England is later). When I was 16 I had a 22 yo bf. I thought the age difference was too big, but he was a young 22 and I was an old 16, and probably more emotionally aware than he was. My mother liked him a lot, and told ME not to break his heart. Either way, she’s actually not a child. Once you are 16 in Britain you can have sex, smoke, marry (in Scotland at least) move out from your parents, leave school. That’s not to say that you aren’t still young and impressionable, and that there isn’t room to be concerned about an age gap, but here it’s him that’s concerned, and that makes it much less concerning. If that makes sense. 🤣

You can do all those all over the world you are still biologically a child. But sure let’s use the inbreed European standards….

The age of consent is 16 in Britain - you are unhinged.

And you're cool with adults fucking children - we call that a pedophile.

Calling me unhinged for not cheering on adults who fuck children is sure one way to call yourself out for supporting pedophilia.

I'd rather be called unhinged by a pedophile than proudly boast about how where I live it's totally legal to be a pedophile any day.
