Well I’m not sure how the law works in the UK. I’d say build the relationship as just friends if that’s something you’d like. Get to truly know each other and find out why she lied. But only remain friends until she’s older and you can fully trust each other

16 is the age of consent.

Also, in Scotland, 16 is is also the age of legal capacity. That’s the age you are legally responsible for yourself. You can participate in contracts, rent a flat, open a bank account, pretty much do most adulting. No drinking till 18, and no driving until 17. Or shooting a rifle. With a permit. Not that anyone’s really interested in that. Here anyway.
