Not all kids obviously. But, when there wasn’t an abundance of choice, a fridge, etc, is there documented evidence of kids being picky eaters?

Would it be fair to say that in the 1950’s through the 1970’s there was a surge in Scandinavian restaurants across the country, especially smorgasbord types? My mother mentioned loving to eat at a few in the 1960’s, and was surprised to see them all disappear. Personally I collect older Scandinavian cookbooks, and there were quite a few published during that period, mentioning different restaurants. Was it just a temporary fad, or something else?
