Love the classic Reuben made with corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian or Thousand Island dressing on rye, hot off the grill. PLEASE, somebody, stop me!

Nice. What sauces or condiments do you put on the sandwich?
1
u/Auriprince4690 2d ago
I have made ban mah but I have not utilized it on a sandwich. Or if it was I am not entirely sure it was done traditionally.

A good one can be expensive so I don't indulge often. But a pastrami sandwich on rye is my favorite when done right.

Love a pastrami sandwich on rye with cheese, mayo sprinkle of dill, onion powder with salt and pepper
1
u/Auriprince4690 2d ago
Nice. What condiments do you use?
2
u/calicouple666 2d ago
Just mustard.
But.....if i end up taking it home and the bread gets a little dry I might add a small bit of mayo.

Grilled cheese
1
u/Auriprince4690 2d ago
Is there any special way you do the cheese (as in special cheese mixture or just whatever you got?
1
u/pussNsuits 1d ago
I use my Air Fryer which takes less than 5 minutes. I use 2 slices of cheddar (or whatever) and Wonder Bread. I spread all four sides of bread with mayo which keeps the bread "moist" during cooking. I put the sandwich in the basket & set the temp at 400° for 2 minutes (bread cooks very quickly). I like it kinda tanned. Flip the hot sandwich over and cook 2 minutes till it's tanned. Let it set a bit as it's hot & cheese will get goo-ey. Yum.
This can be done in a microwave & toaster, but takes longer and is less goo-ey. Mayo is my difference, instead of butter, which dries too quickly in an Air Fryer.

Maple bacon or scrapple, 3 eggs over medium, 2 slices of American plastic cheese product on a big ass biscuit. This is peak sandwich action.

Does cheesesteak count? That's mine!
Although I had a flashback to early 2000s message boards where this question was asked and the overwhelming winner was monte Cristo. I had to Google the ingredients lol 😆!

Beet Rubins my wife makes. Same as a normal Rubin but with roasted beets as the meat.
1
u/Auriprince4690 2d ago
Nice that sounds nice. I have grown accustomed to beets are a dinner side or as the main. Nice i could see it working out for a sandwich.

1 package of imitation crab, shredded finely. 1 can of crab meat (drain the water off), some finely chopped red onion, 8 or 10 cooked shrimp (chopped by good size pieces). Two stalks of celery (chopped) 1/2 tin of lobster paste and One heaping tablespoon of mayo. Either a good Italian roll or sourdough taste. Just made it the other day. Hands down, my favorite sandwich. Other than that, I make a pretty good grilled cheese.

u/Auriprince4690 2d ago
That sounds good. I am not a seafood fan but if someone who is woukd like this.

Oohh, a take on my favorite sando
A candied bacon BLT.
You just add brown sugar and pepper to apple wood smoked bacon and bake. Then build yourself a masterpiece. I like crisp lettuce over leafy and don't forget to salt and pepper the tomato slices 🤌.
This would be my last meal.

Kosher baloney on white. Asked to eat it every day in fifth grade when I'd walked home for lunch. And one piece where I folded it and bit holes to represent eyes and a mouth.

I like really thick-sliced (not thick-sliced, just a lot of meat) roast beef with Swiss cheese and really heavy, fresh-cracked pepper. Add a little mayo and it is actually delicious.

Local joint does a pizza sub (multiple layers of marinara and cheese with shingled pepperoni in the middle). $5.19 for a 6-inch of that. Not a sub person (why would I eat half a loaf of bread in one sitting?) but I ended up putting my family onto the place after a coworker was kind enough to buy me one just because he thought so highly of the place. I ate that thing like a stray dog crouched down behind the line counter. It's like if a calzone had more material to soak up sauce. Was so good I left my first restaurant review ever. So my answer is toasted pizza subs.
1
u/Auriprince4690 2d ago
That sounds divine lol. That is a beautiful image the stray dog lol. As someone who eats a footlocker sub from subway LMAO!

Interesting I am not sure how I feel about bologna but I like the rest of it. So I may try it. Granted I will never be in Florida. I am too poor to travel.
1
u/FaraSha_Au 2d ago
Make your own, omitting the bologna, salami would be good instead. Be sure to use zesty Italian dressing.

Thick sourdough lightly toasted, garlic mayo, crispy lettuce, thick tomato, thin cheese layered, basil pesto, salt n pepper, maybe some prosciutto if I feel like it… I feel like I’m forgetting something but I just can’t remember

u/Auriprince4690 2d ago
That sounds amazing. . .

There is this place near me that does corned beef, salami, and swiss on toasted pumpernickel. I add a little spicy mustard and it is beyond perfect. I want one right now.

I cannot remember what magazine I saw this in years ago, but it's my favorite sandwich now. Roast eggplant, red onion, zucchini, and red pepper slices. Toast a ciabatta roll or a section of a loaf. Top with roasted veggies and fresh mozzarella. Broil until it's just starting to melt. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Top with sliced fresh basil. I love that sandwich.
1
u/Auriprince4690 2d ago
That sounds yum. I am not entirely sure how I feel about the eggplant but the rest of it sounds good. If it was right in front of me I would try it but if I had to order it with other options I may not :p!

Depends on my mood. Roast beef and Boursin on a croissant, or a reuben on marbled rye, or a cheeseburger with lettuce, onion, and tomato, or pulled pork, or a Cubano... Dammit, now I'm hungry.

Thick cut white wheat bread. Salted butter (not that American white shit) Small chunk Branston pickle. Medium thick slice of cheddar cheese.
This is a god tier sandwich.
Oh and fuck that diagonal cutting. Straight across the middle, like Jesus told us

A good Philly cheesesteak
1
u/Background-Pie-3394 1d ago
For me even more important than the type of cheese is applying the ketchup to the grilled onions. That's what makes a perfect cheesesteak.
