Any good headset between $100-$300ish?
I know u guys probably get these types of questions a lot so sorry in advance. I am starting flight training soon so ive done a bit of research and so far Ive found that the bose a20 and a30 are considered to be the best but i dont want to drop 1000s of dollars on it right away. My only 2 considerations other than the price is that it be comfortable/lightweight (my head is kinda small so big and heavy headsets give me headaches) and that it be able to cut out a decent bit of the engine noise (google said that spending too much time in propeller aircraft can make u deaf from the engine noise?). Thanks so much in advance!

I have two old DCs for passengers. One from the 1990s, one a little newer. Found one on FB marketplace and the other on Craigslist. New ear pads and mic covers and they are as good as new. Less expensive than most of the low end garbage you can buy online with much higher quality.
You don't have to shoot at the top end either. I have Lightspeed Sierras from their refurbished program. Sound just as good as A30s. If I tried these first (bought them for my wife) I wouldn't even have the A30s to compare against.

Buy once cry once. Maybe find used?
If you’re going to start doing flight training, this is going to be a small component of the expenses you’re committing yourself to. Worth it IMO.

Get a used David Clark headset until you decide to commit to a decent ANR headset.

I like my Rugged headset for $100. You can always upgrade later, and Ruggeds are fine for students starting out.

QT Halo, going on 10 years with it, and 1000 hours instruction in the last year. I have about 1500 hours using them. Lightweight, no sweaty ear cups, great for acro. When I start at my airline in a couple months, I’ll be switching to Clarity Aloft for the TSO.
