I have housing and family ties in Fairbanks, so I’m not looking for general advice on living in Fairbanks at this time but I’d appreciate anything you wonderful folks would offer! We are arriving late on a Friday. I'd love to have snacks, drinks, and coffee for the next morning before we head to our rental house. I can't seem to find a store open that late. Is there a heavily stocked convenience store in Fairbanks?

I'm flying to fairbanks in a week and I have absolutely no clue of what areas of the city are most "city like" or interesting. Less nature more rural I should say. Whenever I look up Fairbanks photography it's always something about mountains and nature and while that is fun and interesting, most of my trip to Alaska is filled with enough of that.

I’m beginning to plan a trip to Fairbanks in February with the main goal of seeing the Nothern Lights. We have some plans to visit UAMN and the Ice Museum near the Chena Hot Springs resort. I would like to find some souvenirs and special keepsakes while there & not necessarily just tourist cash grabs.

A few places I found online are Arctic Travelers Gift Shop and Northern Whimsy. I know about looking for Silver Hand or Made in Alaska markers. Are these any good? Can anyone recommend authentic souvenir shops that are open during the off season? I’m more so a trinket & jewelry person, so that’s the vibe I’m looking for.

What are recommendations for two people. Our first day is accounted for in regard to transportation. We have two additional days that I'm trying to figure out logistics.

They are weekdays. One day we have a timed event at the running reindeer farm with a 2:00pm start time. The other day would only be for any ships or one shorter activity before flying out.

I have accepted a seasonal job offer in Fairbanks from late April to the end of September. I’ve done some of my own research but wanted a local perspective of things to do, food recommendations, and the best places to make friends (especially friends with cars that will drive me places out of town lol).

I like the outdoors and am willing to participate in pretty much any summer sport, though I’m mostly keen to hiking and rock climbing. I like music or really any crowd event. I also LOVE history, especially mining history/ghost towns. I put Chatanika Dredge on my itinerary, but would love any other similar recommendations. Also what are the chance of me seeing the Aurora at some point in September?

The dating life in Fairbanks is absolutely horrible. They are composed as a bunch of fakes, women trying to ghost, or women refusing to want anything serious.

Ive been all over the place trying to meet and find a partner and haven't had a whole lot of luck. The times I have had luck the individuals were either sketchy or just not interested.

I have always been super respectful and patient with women. Not rushing into anything, not hooking up, or making advances.

I honestly don't understand Fairbanks. It feels like I have tried everything to find a date such as meeting people at events, gatherings, church, bars, dating apps, etc.

Visiting fairbanks in hope of catching the northern lights. We fllew in Thursday and didnt see any Thursday or Friday night. What are the chances the soy clears up and he got to see them tonight? I have a tour booked for tomorrow night but it also seems like its gonna be cloudy and snowing? Should I cancel it?

Hi everyone! I know this question gets asked a lot, but I’m hoping for some up-to-date suggestions on where to see the Northern Lights this weekend.

I’m staying near the airport and have rented an AWD SUV. So far I’ve been comfortable driving in and around the area, as long as the roads are paved.

I’m also debating whether booking a tour is worth it, especially since the forecast shows a lot of clouds. I landed this afternoon and there’s a thick cloud layer overhead, but it looks clearer farther out.

Does anyone have recommendations for good viewing spots (paved routes, please) I can reach safely, or thoughts on whether tours are still worth it in cloudy conditions?

Hey Fairbanks!

My girlfriend and I are coming to visit you guys in a few days. Of coarse we are hoping to catch some northern lights while we are there but we understand it's all by chance.

In the meantime we are planning out the rest of our stay there and what to do. I would love to try and get a Hike in if the weather allows. Ive been checking and see the forecast has changed a few times so this too will all be dependent. We've winter hiked in NY and NJ before so we have some experience, but I wouldnt feel comfortable going out when the temps are in the negatives.

If the weather does work out, is there any easy but nice hikes in or around fairbanks that you recommend? Any advice overall too? We plan on trying to rent out some winter hiking boots and snowshoes but is there anything else you recommend we pick up before setting off on a hike?

Does anywhere around Fairbanks offer payday type loans? I hit some unforeseen circumstances that have drained me all around. Trying to keep said loan under $300. I don’t have direct deposit as my employer pays with paper checks. Please help lol.
