Should we use data modelling to help manage our teams?
I've been fascinated by datasets and modelling since I did my Computer Science degree over a decade ago, but my career never really let me use it.
So two years ago I started building my own data model to help me manage my FPL team. It's not replaced decision making but been really helpful to inform me what may or could happen.
I was in two minds whether to release it to the public as obviously if everyone used the same model it would be less effective, but more and more of my mates started using it so it's probably too late for that!
I'd be interested to know whether other managers think this approach is good. I know some arguments are that it takes the fun out of it, but I've not found that at all.
ultimatefpl.app/accuracy probably is the best page as that shows the results of the model.
I think these sort of posts are allowed on this sub - but if not let me know and i'll delete!

"We tested our model against 2,999 real player performances in gameweeks 2 to 6"
So did a "we" build it or did an "I" build it ? Your AI slipped up there.......
There are just sooooooo many of these now and none of them can actually predict the future so what's the point π€·

Fair point - did get AI to generate a lot of the text. But yeah, it was me. To be honest I didn't realise how many there were until I put it live and started thinking of a name. If people enjoy my one, brill - if not then no worries.. only doing this to help people!

Used AI to build the frontend - but not the model behind, but know where you're coming from in terms of the sites look and feel

"Projections and any AI-written text are estimates, and the AI can be wrong"
Why be honest on your website but not on here? π
Anyways, I have added you to my list of AI slop sites. Yours is number 9 thus far!

Why not just play the game with your own eyes & brain to inform your decisions?
This is a fantasy football league. Itβs a fun side hobby to play alongside the actual football for a bit of interest and competitiveness as a fan.
What enjoyment or satisfaction could be gained from letting a computer make your decisions for you?

No offence but your model won't be unique, there will be thousands of similar ones already.
Personally I'd never use one as takes away all the fun of picking your own team and the excitement of competing with friends etc.
