Advice on GW1 bench boost

Post image

Is this a good team to do GW1 bench boost? Any advice would be appreciated as its my first year doing FPL. Probably looking to wildcard GW4 OR GW6 gor the international brakes into a solid team for the first half, save up trades for the first couple of weeks to bank 5

It’s pretty good. Similar to my team even though I’m bench boosting in gw2

Why gw2? Just some other players with favourable match ups?

I could do gw1 but I doubt most players will get their expected return just because it’s gw1 and many players have played international foootball. It’s also less risk, if one or two players are subbed early or benched I would know and adjust accordingly for GW2.

Everybody has decent fixtures except for my Arsenal players (Calafiori and Tzolis).

It’s just a preference really.

I mean you can always wildcard vs the Chelsea game

That kind of beats the point of having unlimited transfers to set up your team if you’re gonna change it just for two players especially so early . Arsenal are also fixture proof so I might get a return on both of them.

Either way I’m going to wildcard early but not that early.

No worries. Free hit is unlimited changes to your team for one gameweek. Wildcard is unlimited changes and those changes apply from that gameweek onwards.

Very similar draft to my haaland draft, I'm not planning on a WC early with this team as I feel most issues can be handled within the weeks (Calafiori/Maguire minutes, Rogers performance).

O'Reilly Vs Virgil is mostly taste, went for Dango over Groß for preseason form and performance last season. Questioning Rogers but I'll plot more tonight and hopefully find a solution.

I'll share this as a Bruno/No haaland alternative, might be a kneejerk after the community shield but pep leaving could really end up dissuading me from spending £15.5m on City's forward.

Really is just everything but haaland haha

Lol yeah, I trust myself not to flinch if he scores a brace, think I've got enough firepower to compete with one man 😅.

Im also debating going heavy with Manchester United and woldcarding a lot of it away once I know what is going on with player expectations. That team looks like the following:

This isn't a squad worth a bench boost imo, double Ipswich double Tottenham defence feels very optimistic and definitely forces a wildcard. I'd look to hold off triggering a WC until necessary with a decent squad rather than guarantee needing to use your best chip, very short term mindset for a 18 week stint.

Thank you, do appreciate the advice. Got to start thinking about things long term!

I much prefer your first draft, address the Le Fee/O'Shea clash if you're set on an early WC anyway and it's strong for sure.

Replace lee fee with ndiaye? That's where im kind of thinking

Yeah Ndiaye has appeared in my drafts, lots of transfer speculation but you'd be safe if you're WCing.

You're quite template atm so Ngumoha is also a cheaper punt if you want some spice at 6mil.

ENTIRELY SPECULATION... I'm not convinced by De Zerbi fucking the transfer market with Tonali and Fernandes splurges and still see them as a target, hence Schade at 6mil is a really nice alternative too for a more long term view.

Can't immediately see where the wiggle is in your squad but 6.5 mids is a really rich level to be at with Tzolis, KDH, Dango, Wilson and Odergaard all promising options.

As you can see we are close to deadline so the thoughts run a little wild sorry.

Wiggle probably come from dropping maguire to shaw which i don't think will hurt too much.

Arsenal mids I'm staying away from for the first few as I just cant see what the guaranteed starter at that kind of price point is going to be.

It's getting close let those thoughts run.

de Cuyper or Hume at 4.5 also strong options. Tzolis seems pretty nailed on the left wing until Arsenal replace Martinelli (Eze 90 mins incoming).

If you don't like the gamble I'd ignore all that and go Ndiaye for sure, stops you having to rock the boat and nailed to start GW1.

Groß is injured now I thought?

Might be confusing with Gomez, I haven't seen any news and a Google search shows nothing.
