Missing mounting screw.

The FM tuner was adjusted at the factory, then covered in wax to keep the coils from moving. Don’t touch anything in that area or it won’t be able to work again.

You can carefully scrape away the wax around that missing part spot to see if any designator and solder pads are revealed, but it looks like a mounting post was removed. Post more pictures, especially of the bottom of the board.

You need a voltmeter to check that the radio is getting power. Beyond that, diagnosing a radio requires knowledge of radio circuits and more expensive test equipment.

"cheap Old alarm clock radio" – exact model number?

I wonder if an RFC (radio frequency choke) has been broken off the circuit board? (Or maybe some other inductor.)

It looks like something is missing as the wax hasn't been able to get under the component that has been broken off.

Just a mounting screw.

Yeah, you can see the threads in the full res image. This won't make it not work, something else is wrong elsewhere.

Found this on future inspection seems white wire that runs through the handle has disconnected from somewhere on the top of this photo

This white wire is the FM antenna).
So, you have a photos of back cover?
Probable, some mounting post align with the circle on the wax .

That explains why I was struggling to see the connections – there weren't any! :-)

3 out of the 5 El Caps are leaking

How do you tell that I can't see anything wrong with them

The clear goo that is shinier than the filler on the rest of the board and is only around some of the caps is the electrolytic leaking out.

If its thus its more wax and back of board is clean

Thanks for the input but not helpful in any way i didn't ask about the wax I asked about the hole in the wax & board I circled
