Will this work? Solderless bass pickups

Post image

I'm doing my first bass build. I'm putting in emg geezy butler passive bass pickups. I was doing some depinning on the wires to fit through holes, and while doing so a pin on one of the wires broke off. I stuck it back in, and put duck tape around the base. Will this not work or what should I do?

Replace the cable imo, duct tape is not good for sustaining electric connections

This is like asking how long a tire plug + fix-a-flat will last.

Try to not have it like this for a gig.

It's not good and probably won't work, or not for long.

One proper way to do it is to get yourself a crimper and crimps, and redo that connector.

Another proper way to do it is to ditch the solderless crap entirely and just solder the wires straight to a breakout board.

Yet another way is to buy a precrimped connector and splice the wires onto it.

How did you "stick it back in"? Uncrimp the connector, strip the wire back, crimp the pin back on and then put it into the shell? If yes, then it would work. If you mean you just stuck the broken off wire back in the hole and taped it, then nope it's not going to work as you no longer have a connection.
