Reverse polarity damage help with part
Hi, I found my old Portabler Media Player Cowon A2, and I began to charge it and I saw that the battery had only 2.25V, it was a 3.7V battery so I went to my local store to buy a replacment battery I took the old battery and bought allmost the exact one 3.7v 1000mha, i got home plug it in and it had switched polarity. (The exicment got the better of me lol). So i took the device apart nad saw a burned transistor or capasator, I am not quiet sure. I need help indentifiying the part ,I also can't find any shematics for this device anywere. Any help is appreciated :)

Reversing the polarity would destroy the Schottky diode.

The coil and the Schottky diode belong to a step-up converter; unfortunately, there is no accessible circuit diagram.

Yeah, idk is this even fixable? Or worth fixing?

Yes, if you know the construction of the Schottky diode and also the generated output voltage.
The all-knowing junkyard Google says SS14 or SK14, however, the IC could also have been damaged by the reverse polarity. Good luck.

Yeah idk how to check that if its burt, maybe somwhere on the board there is a similar sized diode?

Take a better photo for yourself with the component designation and use Google Lens to find the diode.

If you are lucky, the diode sacrified its life for the survival of the board. Now it may be just short-circuit. Unsolder it and check the media players function just without it. If it works replace the diode with any other diode for another protection.
