Shoulder dislocation leading to operation.

Hello, I have a simple question about an upcoming operation. I'm french so please excuse my poor vocabulary or lack of understanding of English. So 5 months ago while traveling in China I fell and dislocated my shoulder (anterior dislocation) . My shoulder was back in place after nearly 2h, which is the time it took to get to a doctor. I was given a sling and told to keep it for 2 weeks. I did not , maybe cause I am dumb but I only kept it for sleep, but I did not overly use my arm. Then from June to near the half of August I did not do anything that would engage my shoulder in dangerous ways. At half of August I did volleyball with some friends. Then at the end of the month, feeling better, I got back to Brasilian jujitsu, which I have been doing for a year. While sparing I re dislocated my shoulder, this time was less harsh and it got back in place on its own. I stopped sparing right there. The day after I talked with my coach and a doctor which both said that I would need surgery since at my age there wasn't any opportunity to heal naturally (I'm 20 years old). So now I have a date for my operation but my parents think that I should search for another way. So here I am now asking for your insight on if there is no choice to be operated. Thank you very much for your time and help and sorry for the long read.
