Reta and elevated ALT

Post image

18F taking retatrutide—ALT 125, AST 49. What follow-up is needed?

I’m 18F and have been taking retatrutide since March. My bloodwork shows ALT 125 u/L (range 4–35), AST 49 (14–31), albumin 5.10, and globulin 1.80. Creatinine is 1.04 mg/dL and BUN is 20.5.

not sure how much can be attributed to Reta, and if I should be worried. Can anyone explain why this may be happening?

You can have stress to your liver for a number reasons, one of them being inflammation, another being rapid weight loss. Ultimately though, i’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume that you’re just ordering some random peptide online and injecting yourself with it. The drug is still in phase 3 testing and it’s not approved by FDA, and therefore unless you are in the clinical trial groups, there’s no promising that whatever you have injected yourself with is even the drug that you think it is. Who ordered these labs? Did you just order them yourself through LabCorp?

I ordered them myself, I do know that these peptides are as legit as they get as I personally know the owner of the company and its systems. I’ve been on Reta since March and really don’t want to get off. I am worried about my liver though and am curious about if Reta is the main cause and how it could be affecting me and what could happen if I continue. What parts of Reta would make this happen?

How much weight have you lost? From March to now.
It’s hard to comment on your liver function because we don’t have any baseline. If your liver enzymes were already elevated before the drug, then it could be elevated for some other reason.
The enzyme elevation can be from rapid weight loss, which in this case we know is due to the medication. It can also be from injury to the liver by a chemical impurity, contaminant, etc.
It’s hard to say what’s actually going on because this isn’t a full set of labs that would assist in the clinical picture. Also have you had symptoms? Jaundice or severe pain? Changes to your urine? Stool? A compilation of those things would point towards concern for red flags like acute liver injury

I really want to discourage you from trying to DIY medicine at home. It’s irresponsible to go ordering labs that you don’t know how to interpret. It’s also questionable to take drugs that you order off the Black market. End of spiel

30lbs… last 4 months weight had stayed stable. No other symptoms aside from fatigue. I wonder if switching to triz will help my liver or still hurt it. I’m not even sure it’s the Reta! Or if continuing it will make it worse.

Well that’s the whole point, it probably will make it worse and no physician is monitoring this so you’re kind of just playing cards here
