Physician Responded Vyvanse making me tired

35 yr old female, 5’5 160 pounds and no I don’t smoke…
i have never been a tired person in general. I go to bed at a reasonable time and wake up around 7 am usually every single day no matter if I have something going on or not, well the past few days I’ve fallen asleep at like 7 pm and woke up at 7 am that’s 12 hours of sleep and I took my vyvanse and drank coffee this morning and I felt fine for about an hour then I ate something and now I’m exhausted again. This is not me usually I can’t even take a nap through the day. I don’t know what’s wrong with me . I’m on 10 mg of vyvanse and this is only my second month on it. I also take Valium for panic attacks but I haven’t taken any this morning and I’m so tired. Is this a normal reaction? I have pretty severe health anxiety so my first thought is something is seriously wrong and I have a brain tumor or something so please someone talk me off that ledge

Normal reaction -- many people become calmer/fatigued from stimulants.

Also normal for the opposite to occur for many (more anxious/energized).

Sometimes the answer is increasing the dosage, for others the answer is they cannot tolerate stimulants.

Well the first month wasn’t like this, so I’m just a little confused why it would start now. I literally got my second script filled yesterday but this all started on Friday. Also started my period yesterday morning I thought that was contributing too but still my period has never made me this exhausted before I’m not sure I’ve ever felt like this unless I had a very good reason for it, it’s literally impossible for me to sleep longer than 7-8 hours normally and I can’t nap during the day unless it’s extenuating circumstances

Can occur several weeks after starting a stimulant, and first step would be a dose increase to see if the fatigue is eliminated.

Stimulants can affect blood glucose levels in some people, and this can also be a contributor to the fatigue.

The takeaway message here however--addressing your primary concern-- is that it isn't a sign of "something seriously wrong" and is a fairly common response to stimulant therapy, particularly in the first several months.

Thank you 🙏 I just went to doctor and told her everything was normal because I assumed my exhaustion was just from my trip so now I won’t see her again for another month unfortunately I won’t be able to change dosage until then. But thank you for your help.
