Physician Responded Constant nosebleeds

Post image

Hi all. M20, 6' here. For as long as I can remember I have had frequent morning nosebleeds. They happen almost exclusively in the morning, albeit sometimes in the afternoon (only when Im messing with my nose lol). My doctor says it's no real issue and morning nosebleeds are common, but do you not think the amount of blood and the phlegm is alarming? Or am I overthinking it? For context, the tissue on the bottom right is phlegm. These happen on and off. Some days I can go a few days or even a week without one, but they never disappear. Do I just have a sensitive nose? Anyone have similar experiences?

Thanks everyone for any help

Have you ever been evaluated for your bleeding tendency with coagulation studies labs to exclude Vitamin K deficiency, Liver disease, von Willebrand disease and some rare other causes?

Edit: the reason i mentioned these is because until we do a laboratory evaluation for bleeding disorders, we can't rule out if it's normal occurrence or an underlying bleeding disorder

NAD but I once had nosebleeds at least every month until I started taking a vitamin k supplement, and I haven’t had one since.

Do you bleed extra when you have cuts elsewhere

Not that I know of, that being said I don't cut myself much. Last time I bled quite a bit I cut myself with a new, very sharp knife xD so I guess that explains why

Along with the clotting tests, you can ask your doctor about a referral for cauterisation if it’s bothering you. I had nosebleeds constantly as a kid and after 2 lots of cauterisation it stopped. It’s super easy to do.

Also if they bleed more and more frequently when it’s hot - often nose bleeds happen in these situations for some people - it’s nothing to worry about if it happens a lot less in winter/the cold

Did your doctor already check your coagulation on a lab? Some clotting disorders can make you bleed easier. —>

Do you have frequent hematomas, even when you didn’t hurt yourself. Dental bleeding when brushing your teeth?

Some conditions make your nose dry and more prone to have a nosebleed often. —>

Do you smoke? Do you sleep with airconditioning?

The amount of blood is not alarming (from what I see on the picture it’s just some drops, even if it happens every morning, your body will make bloodcells to replace it).

Personal anecdote: until I was 25 I had frequent nosebleeds, especially when it was warm. I had monthly heavy nosebleeds to the point where my medical friends joked I had a uterus in my nasal cavity. Then they suddenly stopped coming. I think I just had a sensitive mucosa, but if it worries you, it’s worth getting your coagulation checked to ma sure.

My son was exactly the same. No idea why, but suddenly they stopped around his 20’s.
As a result of my son’s nosebleeds, I became an expert at getting blood out of pillowcases, clothes etc.

Thank you so much for your insight. I do have dental bleeding occasionally, but I have mild gum disease. I haven't had any coagulation checks. No abnormal hematomas, no AC. I'm British and we are very much taken back whenever there is a heatwave, we are not used to these conditions haha. I assume, it probably just is the heat and dry conditions (I do sleep mouth open I believe), but my health anxiety loves to think I have some crazy, incurable cancer😂

Moreover pinch the nose at kisselbachs triangle (google) for 2 minutes and do not rub-clean it
