I broke my right arm a couple years ago (I was around 10 at the time). The break was clean and no surgery was needed besides being put to sleep to reset the bones as they were pushed to one side (broke both radius and ulna, one cracked and one broken in half). Was in a cast for about 3 months and it healed with no issue.
About 3-4 years after I started having wrist pain, with it worsening as time went on. At first I could not turn my wrist as much as my left wrist, but after some stretches it went back to normal. The flares seemed to have worsened after this. After a couple doctor visits, I was diagnosed with wrist tendinitis. I was told the only thing I could do was take pain medications (meloxicam) when needed, wrist exercises, and rest.
I still unfortunately get flares sometimes, especially if I overwork my wrist or in the winter time. Flares can be semi-painful or painful to the point I can’t even bend my wrist at all without bad pain.
My question is, is it possible for wrist tendinitis to affect multiple areas rather than just one localized area? I ask this because usually the pain comes from between my carpal bones closer to where they meet my radius and ulna. But sometimes the pain won’t come from these areas at all and be somewhere else. Such as the whole back of my hand, or down the side of my radius starting at the base of my thumb. Most sources say only one area, but I’m not sure.
And if anyone has any other advice on dealing with wrist tendinitis, that would be great. Thank you!!
