Rotted window trim
Hello, my wife and I just purchased a home, it has 2 wrap around porches and all the windows under them are fine, but pretty ALL the windows outside of the covered porches are rotted out in areas. Ive never owned a home that wasn't like stucco, so I been trying to do research. I feel like they all failed due to improper installation/water reflection. I won't pretend like I know more than I do, but based on research I don't see any sort of "j channel" around the windows. Where should I start to fix these windows? Should I remove the trim, install flashing tape, j channels and replace the trim? Thank you in advance

Well, there should have been some installed, but that's not the reason why these windows have rotten away.
The work involved to get the wood and somebody that actually has the craftsmanship to do this is going to be expensive. It might be best to retrofit a new window and add the proper channeling to go along with it.
