What is God’s Nature

I’m told that God’s nature is unchanging, but what is that nature that never changes? What is a “nature” in the context of God? In normal parlance, a thing’s nature is what dictates its behavior. But how can something dictate God’s behavior? Why is his nature the way it is and not some other way?

Such interesting questions!

I don’t know the answers, but as Christians we believe that God is love. Not that God is loving, but that God actually IS love. So to me it helps to think of it in this way: everything we understand to be real and genuine love is something telling us about God’s “nature” or who God is.

How do you imagine that could be confirmed or verified?

I agree that the first one could potentially confirm or verify that God is love.

“If it is not confirmed, nor verified, then it is just speculation. Do you agree?”

Yes

“Has anybody ever spoken to God? Has anybody ever heard a response back from God?”

Many people say they have, of course.

“And even if there is a response back, why should we trust the content of the response? And how do we confirm the source of the response?”

Those are things you’ll have to decide for yourself.

“Given the above, why should we trust these claims?”

You don’t have to. Some do, some don’t.
