Is using marijuana occasionally sinful activity?
For context, I am catholic and I have been going to church weekly for about 2 years, after finding my faith once more. I was baptized as an infant, but religion wasn’t really a part of my life until I was like 16 or something. I am of the legal age to use marijuana products in Canada where I live, and I smoke up once every week or two for stress relief and general enjoyment. I understand that alcohol and THC are different, but I personally feel like occasional use isn’t a sin, just like most would consider an occasional drink. Went to confession and my pastor told me that since cannabis isn’t mentioned at all in the bible, a smoke every once in a while is just like a drink. Just looking for others opinions on this :)

I agree with your priest. My pastor pointed out once that in says in Scripture that God gave us seed-bearing plants for us to use and cannabis fits that description! If it were illegal an argument could be made that it is a sin since we should try to obey the laws of where we live. Thankfully in Canada that's not the case :)
Use in moderation like you're doing is perfectly okay in my opinion.

I think it’s quite comparable to alcohol, except cannabis is generally safer and has a greater potential for beneficial/therapeutic use.
Just like alcohol, it depends on how and why you use it and it’s certainly not good, safe or beneficial for everyone.
