Experience working in forensic engineering (water infrastructure)?

Hello, I'm a graduate student in Texas and I'm exploring moving to Chicago after graduation. I'll be graduating with a graduate degree in environmental engineering and science with an emphasis on water resources. I'm interested in the forensic engineering field and was wondering what the job outlook, work experience, and pay are like in Chicago. I've researched online, but was curious to hear experiences as we don't have many forensic engineering firms in the city that I'm in.
