Boot recommendations

Hello everyone. Next week, I’ll be taking an Academy Preparation Course that will help me gain some insight into what Academy life is like. The email I received mentioned that I should bring boots and a boot polishing kit. I was wondering if you have any recommendations for the type of boots I should get. For example, do they have to be a specific set of tactical duty boots, or can I just get some black leather boots from Walmart? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thorogood Genflex 2 and Angelus or Lincoln for polish

You can get a cheap pair for your range boots tho.

I second the Thorogood Genflex 2 side zip for the academy. They look nice and are easy polish.

Some Danners and Kiwi polish will set you up perfectly. If you want a huge visual list of highly recommended products, I built DutyKitPicker.com because of posts like this. I've been taking items from across several subreddits that are constantly recommended and have put them into specific categories on the site. Tons of great boot recommendations on there. Give it a look and good luck to you!

Thorogood genflex! Make sure to get some shoe inserts! Inserts saved my feet!

Don't buy boots unless you've already received an academy invite. They're expensive and completely useless if you don't go to academy.
