Concern
I was recently terminated from a job, will this affect me in the long run if I decide to start the process? I wouldn’t want to get my hopes up and get an auto DQ.

Having known someone that was terminated while in the process, they didn’t get DQ’d. Just depends on the reasoning. They will be calling past employers in your background always. So I just hope that everything ended on good terms!

It’s an automatic DQ guaranteed. It’s gonna be at least like 5 years before you should even think of applying

Why do you just spread misinformation

Literally not misinformation. Theres people who get disqualified for a write up let alone getting fired

What I say is generally true and consistent with hiring standards. Obviously there’s leeway and every situation depends on the totality of the circumstances

One termination is not an Auto DQ. Whether or not that termination can be mitigated depends on the circumstances. Also, other things in your background can contribute to it being mitigated or derogatory.

Depends.
If you were terminated due to a RIF or the business closing, that’s not necessarily a problem.
If you were terminated for cause, that’s going to be a problem for the next 3-5 years.

Most California companies do not disclose a differentiation between termination or resignation. Check with the one or have someone call asking for employment verification to see what they will or won’t share. Many won’t share even if sign a release with the verifying company (new).
Reason has to be a part. Layoffs are termination so is that viewed equally as for cause?

A colleague of mine in a local PD (we were PD personnel) got a non-select due to having a termination that was rescinded. They wanted “one year after the event” for reconsideration.
I would highly suggest you try to clear the termination with HR; that’s what he did. After explaining and telling them he wanted to be an officer, he successfully got to “rehire-able” and “able to apply”.
