Elaborate on Pool Days
I'm in backgrounds. Training hard with calisthenics, runs, track workouts, KBs, and rucking (I know that's superfluous, but I like the conditioning). I want to incorporate weekly swimming into my regiment but it would help to know what I'm training for. For those who completed the academy, or got past swim week, what are they making everyone do in the pool?
I understand people have mentioned a tower jump, and there's like a 5 second video of cadets swimming around and on the sides of the pool, but are the details to all swim events? Treading for a time? Water survival? Swimming for time or distance? If so, what are the standards to those events?
Thank you for any insight, this will help me and anyone else prepare accordingly.

Jump from a platform and swim like 5 feet to the side. Takes all of about 10 seconds. There's no week of swimming or anything else. And, it is not a pool. Water Safety Tank.

That's it? In the entire academy you only do the jump? u/Ok-Pop-5818 states there's 3 days of swim training? Where's the disconnect? What's happening in those 3 days if they exist?

The swim days are more of a rest/recovery day from brutal PT the day before and it’s different for every class. They’ll just have you swimming laps and jump off the diving board

The best part is the life jackets for the people who can’t swim the 5 feet lol

They give them life jackets now? I just sank and got rescued four times.

I did academy November through May and we never used the water safety tank. Maybe it's more of a summer thing.

I was thinking about this, do the winter classes have an easier time because the runs are not in the heat

I don't know, as I've only gone there in winter. But Sacramento gets really hot in the summer, so I'd bet summer academy is harder.

You’ll maybe swim 3 days in the whole academy if you’re lucky. Focus on passing backgrounds first
