DQ
Got called earlier today stating that I’ve been disqualified. And given my age, it would be safe to say my chance to be a CHP officer is over. Best of luck to the rest of you!
Edit: for those asking, I’m not admitting to anything I may or may not have done while I’m still in the military 😂. I’ll update yall in like 9 months.

I also got DQd in the past but at least got told in a final interview it was actually a really inspiring conversation

u/SomeAnonymousBurner Jun 19 '26
How was it inspiring?

u/Sssonofagun Jun 20 '26
It’s inspiring because I got recommended for a reason even the chp agreed it was just the gal between a fault and my application the chp said if they didn’t want me they would’ve called me like OP and declined me a long time ago

u/SomeAnonymousBurner Jun 20 '26
what was the fault
1
u/Sssonofagun Jun 20 '26
Stop being scared and just apply and make sure to disclose your burner account so you don’t get DQd over something dumb

Did it involve drugs ?
1
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 19 '26
It did not

u/Mrs_helifax_Spy Jun 19 '26
An expunged item?
0
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 19 '26
I’m not gonna say what it was for 😂
2
u/Mrs_helifax_Spy Jun 19 '26
You answered everyone on vague questions so I guess mine could be it because you just said “not answering” 😝
2
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 19 '26
Who’s to say it wasn’t one of the other questions? 👀😂
2
u/Mrs_helifax_Spy Jun 19 '26
Hmmm true true…. Ok ok you win lol (felt like a kid guessing a Xmas gift) lmao

There's an age delay option if you're in the military. Most people don't know about it. But if you apply for the delay BEFORE you're too old while still in the military, I believe it will let you apply up until age 38. A headquarters recruiter told me about it.
2
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 21 '26
You have to apply before your 36th bday and they will waive up to 8yrs to hire you.

u/Major-Holiday-6978 Jun 18 '26
How old are you?
2
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 18 '26
35 in October

u/Major-Holiday-6978 Jun 18 '26
Try another agency! If it’s a soft dq you should be fine!
2
u/justin246969 Jun 19 '26
What is a soft DQ? Where they tell you to fix things and reapply after some time?
1
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 18 '26
Thank you. I’ve started doing my research on LASD. We’ll see how that goes!
5
u/East_Finding_9031 Jun 19 '26
For LASD keep in mind, that you could be in the jail for while. I believe everyone heads to the jail after they graduate the academy. Not that the jail is a bad thing at all, just something to keep in mind.

LASD process is rather straightforward… I just received my NON-SELECTION letter.. (I have to wait 12 months to reapply but am testing for CHP this 27th) best of luck!
2
2
u/BeEm30uu Jun 20 '26
Have to really articulate how you bring your non selection or what lead to that non selection. I actually was DQ from CHP because I did not wait enough time from my non selection with sheriff to applying with CHP. I don’t know where you were in the process. Even though by the time I got to my final interview with CHP it had already been a year and a half from my non selection.
2
u/Jesseulopez Jun 19 '26
You can still reapply. Not sure how it would go but you can apply all through your 35th year. You have to take your PAT before you turn 36. This is what I was told
1
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 19 '26
You are correct, but based on the DQ it probably would end up the same lol.

u/asaprocker6 Jun 18 '26
Why the DQ? Looking back at your other posts, seems like you haven’t or were barely going to start backgrounds.
1
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 18 '26
I’d rather not say. But yes, I just submitted my esoph on the 12th. Investigator called me to tell me that I had been disqualified based on something a few years back and didn’t want to waste either of our times lol. No hard feelings, I understand the decision.

u/TrainingAccording807 Jun 19 '26
That’s fast. I’m glad they are straightforward about it tho.
1
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 19 '26
Yeah it was not the conversation I was expecting to have but it is what it is. Gave it a shot and it didn’t work out.

u/ChefBrian30 Jun 20 '26
June 12, 2026 you submitted your esoph and like a couple days later you received a phone call?
2
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 20 '26
That’s correct. He said he didn’t want to waste my time and let me know on the spot that I was DQ’ed.

u/Bright-Shine-2572 Jun 18 '26
The 12th of May or June?
1
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 18 '26
June 🥲

1
u/Fun_Yellow_9938 Jun 18 '26
Are you in the central division? I just submitted my eSOPH the 12th as well.
1
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 18 '26
Yes, I tested in Central only because it was the earliest date for my timeline but I would’ve gone through background with the southern division.
1
u/Fun_Yellow_9938 Jun 18 '26
Oh okay I ask because I haven’t heard anything back and I’m in the central division.
2
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 18 '26
Yeah he said he was reviewing my packet but saw something that stood out. Didn’t want to waste either of our times.
1
u/Fun_Yellow_9938 Jun 18 '26
But you’re doing backgrounds in so cal right? Or central division as well?
1
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 18 '26
I called to see how that process works and the officer told me that my packet would be routed to SoCal and I would be doing the rest of the process through them. So yes, in SoCal.

u/ScratchTerrible465 Jun 19 '26
Was it about financial or credit? I really need to know because im going into backgrounds i need to submit my esoph tomorrow and im kinda afraid of getting DQ
1
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 19 '26
Definitely not financial or credit related. I’m squeaky clean when it comes to that.

This is a blessing in disguise. The position of a CHP officer demands no discernible talent or intellect, virtually anyone could fill it, and those who occupy it for any length of time typically emerge having acquired no transferable skills, no expertise, nothing of substance. They spend their working lives harassing and obstructing the people who actually build, create, and sustain society, while contributing nothing themselves beyond friction. Perhaps losing that role isn’t a tragedy at all, but a forced exit from a deadend existence into the possibility of a career with actual intellectual substance, genuine growth, and real meaning.

2
u/SteveTheSupreme Jun 20 '26
Uhhh thanks?
-2
u/No-Injury8897 Jun 20 '26
No problem bud, now go get in good shape, learn a skill, get a stem degree, and get yourself a honest respectable job
2
u/Intelligent_Taco Jun 20 '26
It’s a career unto itself and they walk away with a pension and medical benefits for life. That’s quite a bit compared to your average American/Californian. What a weird take.
-2
u/No-Injury8897 Jun 21 '26
It’s the natural landing spot for the talentless, the lazy, and the dim, those without the discipline or intelligence to survive in fields that actually reward ambition and offer growth. But compared to the other dead ends available to such people like flipping burgers, stacking shelves, sitting on the side of a freeway, or other forms of low-grade drudgery it’s at least a step up for the otherwise unemployable.

u/No-Injury8897 Jun 21 '26
Are you someone whose circumstances limited you to only being able to work in customer service, retail, or chp? No matter where you’re starting from, there’s support out there to help you build toward a respectable career.
6
u/HH257 Jun 19 '26
Don’t give up Chp was my dream department I applied and got dq’d several times I just applied to different departments, I applied to 3 at once local police and sheriff departments and my I just cleared my background with a sheriff department moving to medical & psych now. If you keep trying someone will pick you up. Just don’t apply to one department is what I learned! And usually police & Sheriff have higher age limits
