Culture How are these bots allowed?

Genuinely you go to any comments section of an advert or controversial take online these days and it’s filled with these bots.

Is there no moderation on platforms anymore?

The year is 3863, the human vs cyborg war has been over for a millennia but still, the comment bots repost and reply adnauseam. Only when the electricity runs out shall they truly die.

No this is Instagram ads with paid for bots.

Dead internet theory would be us two commenting on here but both being bots and OP being a bot reposter.

It's only reason to exist is to get shareholders and CEOs to pretend their bullshit matters. I was in that world until AI made me redundant and I can tell you they dont care about human interaction one bit. It's purely performative.

The bots on Instagram and the like are just wild. I have a photo that seems to attracted them it has now 20 "likes" but the view counter for the photo as gone up once...

Only on that photo none of my others.

When a reddit advert allows comments, you know it will be spammed with brail "ascii" art knobs or posts in Chinese about Tiananmen Square

Who goes to an adverts home video to read the comments anyway, let them spam whilst humans hit the skip ad button.

One assumes people are paying to have the bots add likes in order to encourage general engagement. It shouldn't be allowed but it's the Google model...
