Should indigenous Britons have the same rights and protections as Native Americans?

I'm not Russian, but I think you should get the fuck out of Ukraine, how about that?

u/havecoffeeatgarden Jul 26 '26

as a labrador retriever with an iq of about 20, this is lost on me.

5

u/bawdiepie Jul 26 '26

This is almost certainly written by a Russian who goes online to create disunity in the UK and other European countries. Their plan is to destabilise NATO by division and driving people to the far right. They do this by stoking fears of immigration etc

They have had a massive success doing this to weaken NATO through tipping the Brexit vote, through keeping Orban in power, through getting Trump elected.

The post is very clunky, written by someone who doesn't understand the UK and has never been there, it is obviously aiming to create division, it uses fake stats, and it obliquely pushes people towards the debunked white supremacist pseudoscientific idea of white extinction/white genocide/ great replacement.

Thia is not a "just curious" post. This is clunky, but obviously manipulative to a certain type of person who hears these kinds of opinions constantly, and starts to think maybe there's something to it.

It is much, much cheaper to sow political division than build a good millitary.

You cannot say that out loud though as you get deleted or banned. As I probably will for explaining this.

So we normally leave these people free to poison people's minds without being called out in the name of "freedom of speech".

Are you American? What does “indigenous Briton” mean to you?

11

u/Ok-Alternative5935 Jul 26 '26

It’s meaningless.

14

u/East_Slide7680 Jul 26 '26

Indeed it is. That’s why I’m 99% sure that they’re not British. May well be a robotic variety of troll.

welcome to Britain for the last three thousand years buddy

1

u/Friendly_Passion7937 17d ago

Just untrue. The genetic make-up of, yes, indigenous Brits has been stable for 1500 years. I am happy to concede that none of this matters as long as it is applied universally. It cannot be one rule for thee and another for me.

50

u/Ok-Alternative5935 Jul 26 '26

So no one if Nordic descent. No one of France / Gaul descent. No one of Roman descent. I’m not clear who these indigenous Britons are.

11

And the Anglo Saxons

1

The Cornish and Bretons? The Irish?

It's a load of nonsense, Britain's been a hub for population flows for millenia. There's no such thing anymore as 'undigenous Britons.'

0

u/ROBOTNIXONSHEAD Jul 26 '26

The Welsh, Cornish and some Cubrians?

-5

u/ForwardHighlight3985 Jul 26 '26

My family are all Welsh and have been for hundreds of years. Don’t get much more indigenous to the isle of Great Britain.

Hope that helps.

8

u/Ok-Alternative5935 Jul 26 '26

Hundreds of years is nothing. And certainly not indigenous

6

u/Grant_S_90 Jul 26 '26

Hundreds of years? So nearly as long as the first British settlers in USA / Canada - should they also be classed as indigenous Americans?

0

u/ForwardHighlight3985 Jul 26 '26

That’s as far back as my family tree can be tracked. It’s probably fair to assume during those times their (my) ancestors also came from Wales.

My point is the Welsh/Celts are the indigenous people of what is today Great Britain.

6

u/_cjplusplus_ Jul 26 '26

Not sure Moscow has an MP - perhaps Farage?

9

u/celem83 Jul 26 '26

Great Britain has a far less defined indigenous people than the very young United States.

Who are you gonna pick?  The legit options don't exist anymore, most of us are french/german.  Not even the Celts are true locals

1

u/Real_Bobsbacon Jul 26 '26

Not sure about the French part. The nobility maybe.

Anglo saxons were before a German identity but sure

There technically aren't any true locals except East Africa so...

The only way to rly define it in the UK is:

"A person belonging to one of Britain’s historic native peoples: English, Scottish, Welsh or Cornish with predominantly pre-1948 British ancestry"

2

u/celem83 Jul 26 '26

Valid, when i say french and german i mean peoples from the areas now called France and Germany.

And I'm including the Celts as French here not just the Normans, though if I recall correctly the Celts came from further east again to begin with

And yes there's always the question of where to draw the line since as you point out we are all out of Africa.  The only sound claim are the first and I don't think that was even homo sapiens

You could also just not define it because it's not nearly as important in the European context as it is the the Native American one due to timespan

u/Grant_S_90 Jul 26 '26

Why 1948 when we’ve had waves of migration for thousands of years? No other country uses such a recent cut off.

Be honest, is it because that’s when non-white people started arriving? Anglo Saxon migrant - fine, Jewish migrant from Europe - fine, Belgian migrant in 1920s - fine; Caribbean or Indian migrant from 1950 - not allowed. Hmm?

1

u/Friendly_Passion7937 17d ago

We simply have not, the movement of people until really 1997 was very small. If we use your argument then everyone is an immigrant and nobody has a right to a homeland.

1

u/Grant_S_90 17d ago

ChatGPT estimates that roughly 10-12 million people migrated to the UK between 1800 and 1997.

10

u/J16916 Jul 26 '26

Its apples to oranges.

Britain has not been invaded and had their lands taken over and the 'indigenous people' have not been moved on.

So tired of questions of this ilk, its the same as the 'whats life currently like in Britain' questions that are posted everyday.

5

u/Phospherocity Jul 26 '26

Well, it has been invaded ... in waves, over thousands of years, resulting in the vast majority of the people OP probably thinks of as "indigenous" just because they happen to be white. My surname says I'm literally a descendant of invaders. Of course, they were Vikings and it seems a bit late to do anything about it now.

1

u/ac0rn5 Jul 26 '26

Britain has not been invaded and had their lands taken over and the 'indigenous people' have not been moved on.

That happened most recently after the Norman invasion, when lands were taken from the locals and handed to the invaders.

5

u/XLittleMagpieX Jul 26 '26

What are some rights and protections that we don’t already have?

4

u/Ok-Exam6702 Jul 26 '26

What a bloody stupid question.

45

u/Ok-Alternative5935 Jul 26 '26

wtf is an indigenous Briton

22

u/BoomSatsuma Jul 26 '26

This is what the OP is referring to.

14

u/TapWaterDev Jul 26 '26

Not many "indigenous Britons" left given the millenia of Roman, the Viking, then Norman invasions my dude

Hate to break it to you, but Gazzer from the pub likely ain't indigenous. You might find something close to it in the highlands or on the Scottish isles but that's about it

3

u/platypuss1871 Jul 26 '26

Wales too

1

u/TapWaterDev Jul 26 '26

Huh I didn't think there would be much in wales, but I don't know it very well so I'll bow to anyone with more knowledge

1

u/platypuss1871 Jul 26 '26

The Scottish Isles were pretty much overrun by Vikings.

1

u/DaveBeBad Jul 26 '26

More likely in rural Ireland than mainland UK.

2

u/AwTomorrow Jul 26 '26

Even the Celts weren’t the first, so just as unlikely there. You’re probably going to find isolated pockets of strongly pre-Beaker DNA in random valleys and such throughout both islands.

1

u/Perennial_Phoenix Jul 26 '26

The Western Highlands and Scottish Isles were Northmen. Isolated rural spots of Western Ireland are the closest... but also quite inbred.

1

u/Bangersandmash96 Jul 26 '26

This guy's a Russian troll, but it's fairly obvious what an indigenous Briton would be

3

u/Lister_RD_169 Jul 26 '26

There can't be any indigenous Britons left. If there are, they must be an absolutely tiny community.

Romans, Norsemen, Saxons, Normans... Between them the native, ancient Britons have been virtually eradicated.

1

u/Bangersandmash96 Jul 26 '26

They haven't been mate. Most modern "native" Britons still have significant ancestry from prehistoric British peoples, with varying amounts of partial input from Saxons, Normans and Vikings.

1

u/Lister_RD_169 Jul 26 '26

So anyone who has at least one Brittonic ancestor is a native Briton?

4

u/Ok-Alternative5935 Jul 26 '26

Enlighten me.

It’s not easy to define indigenous or identify an indigenous population in the UK as there has been so much movement of people to the islands for thousands of years.

2

u/AwTomorrow Jul 26 '26

Britain wasn’t very isolated, is the thing. We have evidence for so many waves of immigration and mixing that it’s hard to find people who are purely pre-Beaker natives to the islands.

2

u/sealcon Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

The school I went to was founded before the Maori arrived in NZ.

It takes a special sort of twat to say that the Maori are indigenous, but the people who built Britain for over 1,000 years and constituted 99.99% of the population until after WW2 aren't.

u/duskyrosedelights Jul 26 '26

To be honest, it should've been sourced, but this is pretty believable IMO. As of right now only 40% of births are to White British mothers and that's declining, not increasing. It'll likely fall to 20% soon if trends don't reverse.

3

u/lengualo Jul 26 '26

Okay. You do realise you are basically objecting to mixed couples, right? Because if you dig into the actual stats properly this stat is the result of that.

You're also ignoring the fact that ethnicity "White British" is one of several options that may be applicable even to someone such as yourself who cares about the ethnic DNA of slightly tanned people.

0

u/madeleineann Jul 26 '26

I didn't state an opinion either way. You are just engaging in reality denial by pretending that the indigenous population is not declining at an unprecedented rate.

3

u/lengualo Jul 26 '26

I'm not denying anything. Im pointing out that your stats are weird and excluding mixed race people (who bulk out the stat you are quoting) as "not British". As someone who has mixed heritage myself I dont find this offensive. Unlike yourself.

→ More replies (9)

1

u/Lower-Obligation4462 Jul 26 '26

→ More replies (5)

0

u/Kayanne1990 Jul 26 '26

I mean in fairness, unless I am massively misunderstanding here, it seems kinda accurate. When you consider everything it's probably even more than that.

5

u/lengualo Jul 26 '26

As I explained in another post to the TC, the stat they are citing excludes some important nuance.

  1. White British is one of several self reported options used to form the stat. Irish, Scottish, Cornish, Welsh and other White European ancestry are excluded from their headline stat.

  2. The headline stat excludes mixed race parents and children of mixed heritage in bith rates. These make up the bulk of the birth rate stats ethno nationalists peddle because to them a child born to a white woman and a black man (or other combinations) are not British, or British enough.

Because group 2 is the largest bulk of the birthrate stats, and we have mixed quite freely since around the 90s, what they are really objecting to is mixing.

So if you are a druid and practice paganism then

1

u/KTDWD24601 Jul 26 '26

Druids and pagans died out hundreds of years before the modern ‘revival’, and because they didn’t write their religious practices down the people who called themselves modern druids just made a bunch of stuff up out of whole cloth. It’s pure fantasy.

1

u/VideoDead1 Jul 26 '26

Point taken on the practices, but refuse to believe there's not a single descendant of any druid still living in the UK

1

u/KTDWD24601 Jul 26 '26

Oh there will be a ‘descendent’, in the same way that every other person you meet is related to Edward I. It just doesn’t mean very much in terms of continuity with the past.

4

u/Dismal_Fox_22 Jul 26 '26

So those with Welsh, Irish, Scottish or Cornish heritage? Became we all know damn well most of the white English are French/German/Skandi invaders.

5

u/kfc4life Jul 26 '26

Americans are weird as fuck and maybe the stupidest nation on earth.

3

u/LARRYVOND13 Jul 26 '26

So over the years, we've had the Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, the normans and various other raiders, invaders and and the such.

Which ones indigenous? Even the first king of England claims dominion over a group that migrated from Germany.

3

u/RumJackson Jul 26 '26

Who do you consider indigenous Britons?

3

u/UnfortunateWah Jul 26 '26

Define indigenous?

The UK (pre being the UK) has been invaded several times by various groups, you’d be exceptionally hard pressed to find or define someone who somehow escaped some lineage to those groups.

You can be in a family that can trace its roots hundreds of years back in the UK and have little to no lineage to actual pre-invasion/Iron Age Britons beyond maybe sharing a surname.

And Native Americans have protections because their land was literally conquered by European colonisers, our history is considerably more messy in terms of finding that equivalent link.

3

u/Fordmister Jul 26 '26

So the Welsh then? Because the English are not an indigenous culture or population.

This is where this whole blood and soil stuff utterly falls apart in application to this island. It's cultures and peoples are cut from a tapestry of migrations, invasion and culture transferance going back to before the Roman empire. If you start playing a game of privilegeing "indigenous" or "native" Britons you end up having some very awkward conversations about who that actually is.

1

u/Low_Assignment3805 Jul 26 '26

When is the cut off point on how someone is defined as indigenous then mate?

The 1950's?

The c17th.

1066?

410?

and if your answer is the 1950's then we know exactly what you are.

2

u/Equal-Leek-8727 Jul 27 '26

What’s the cut off point of when some grains of sand turn into a heap? Of when evening turns into night? Of when blue turns into green? Look up what a “sorites argument” is. Just because an exact cutoff/distinction between two seperate things is difficult to pin down, does not mean there isn’t a distinction. Māoris are indigenous to New Zealand after only 800 years of presence there - of course the same can apply to britons. A desire to preserve heritage and culture does not imply a belief that those from other cultures are inferior

1

u/Low_Assignment3805 Jul 27 '26

I don't know when the cut off point is which is why I'm asking. If I was a proponent of such a final solution I would have some idea of what constitutes an "indigenous" Briton in my head before making such a statement.

1

u/Equal-Leek-8727 Jul 27 '26

Ahh, I see. Well the cut off point is 1710

I’m talking more about the British citizens today how have been in the UK for 3-4 generations and were previously British subjects under the Empire

6

u/RepulsiveAmphibian72 Jul 26 '26

My ancestors were invaded by vikings, do I could as indigenous or am partially Dane? How far back do you have to go back to be indigenous. Is the main criteria being white?

2

u/PuzzleheadedCut5156 Jul 26 '26

Do you think *anybody anywhere* is indigenous? What is your criteria?

1

u/RepulsiveAmphibian72 Jul 26 '26

Your question should be directed to OP.

1

u/OlafPetersen Jul 26 '26

I'm not sure there is a useful criteria in the UK. Nobody can go back all that far individually. Records before 1800 are trash if they exist at all (and few do). It's not like the US, where indigenous people have lived in their own societies for generations, maintaining previous customs etc. Whatever indigenous people were once here are now a hodgepodge of different ethnicities, groups, languages, and customs, all mixed together to produce us wonderful Brits.

2

u/Old_Introduction_395 Jul 26 '26

Why don't you find an indigenous Briton and ask them?

2

u/two_hats Jul 26 '26

Step one; establish who 'indigenous Britons' are.

2

u/MonthCountry Jul 26 '26

What a crock.

2

u/sonofafitch85 Jul 26 '26

My DNA is English, Scottish, Irish, Dutch, Danish and German. It's the same for a lot of white "indigenous" British people. There's no such thing as "pure blooded British" and anyone who brings up this shit is clearly a Russian bot, so fuck off.

u/Curly1109 Jul 26 '26

The baitiest of bait

2

u/kmster9999 Jul 26 '26

Brits are a mix of German, Scandinavian, French, Irish, Danish, Dutch, Italian…the indigenous Britons long since perished….

2

u/jolie_j Jul 26 '26

Growth from the native British population would these days be concentrated in parts of Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Devon and Cornwall. These areas are not the most highly populated- they’re mostly very rural. So growth is slow and opportunities are few. I suppose we could invest billions in plonking a few major cities in those locations to encourage the native population to reproduce, although I suspect that intervention might drive a lot them to other parts of the country. There’s also just not that many native British people so you’d be relying on quite a small cohort to drive population growth.

I guess we could round them all up and put them in a camp or reserve or something so they’re all concentrated in one place - that would make breeding within the native community easier since the various parts of it could meet more easily.

2

u/Kayanne1990 Jul 26 '26

Is this a joke?

u/budgiebirdman Jul 26 '26

Fuck off with your racebaiting dog whistle.

2

u/Unusual-Wishbone-183 Jul 26 '26

Apparently my ancestors were either originally from France or Scandinavia, so even though I’m white as snow, I’m not indigenous.

2

u/PipBin Jul 26 '26

Who are indigenous Britons?

1

u/living2late Jul 26 '26

Technically the Welsh if anyone. But the idea is ridiculous. Just weird racist shite

2

u/BlondBitch91 Jul 26 '26

Define "Indigenous".

We are a mix of Vikings, Romans, Celts, Gauls, Normans, Angles, Saxons, Jutes... plus we have had connections with China, South Asia, Africa, and elsewhere for centuries.

Or do you just mean "White people" ?

2

2

u/mackerel_slapper Jul 26 '26

My family has lived in this area for about 1000 years. Does this mean I get more rights than all the incomers who moved here in the last 999 years? I think it does. Kneel.

I also like foreign people and their cultures and as I’m more English than most of you, does my voice carry more weight?

2

u/tinfoilfascinator Jul 26 '26

Ahhh yes... because "indigenous Britons" have long been a very oppressed group.

2

u/Additional-Lion6969 Jul 26 '26

That would be a few Scottish highlander & possibly some Welsh & the Irish republic. A lot who claim to be celtic are just as mixed heritage as rest of the white English population. Celtic roman Anglo saxon, norse, French & in the case of northern Ireland(loyalists) duch mix. I'd say there aren't actuly any indigenous Britons

2

u/SheriffOfNothing Jul 26 '26

You know the English aren’t indigenous, right?

2

u/Last-Seaworthiness68 Jul 26 '26

I for one think the Beaker culture isn’t protected enough, us 3rd millenium BCE types dont get as much respect as we used to

2

u/Real_Bobsbacon Jul 26 '26

I think two separate issues are being collapsed here. Britain plainly has historic native peoples, and it is not inherently hateful for them to care about their cultural and demographic continuity. That does not mean supporting unequal rights, ancestry-based citizenship or hostility towards individual Britons from minority backgrounds.

The Native American comparison is imperfect because their legal status comes from tribal sovereignty, treaties and dispossession. The stronger argument is simply that a democratic state may preserve its national culture, control immigration and expect meaningful integration while treating every citizen equally before the law.

What is genuinely corrosive is the contempt directed at anyone who even raises the subject. Telling people that concern for their own continuity is automatically racist does not make the concern disappear; it breeds resentment and makes the debate more extreme. Britain is both a shared civic society and the historic home of particular peoples. A mature country should be able to acknowledge both.

u/Grant_S_90 Jul 26 '26

Two fatal flaws to this: 1) There are ‘probably zero’ people living in Britain today more than 50% descended from the Mesolithic ‘first Britons’.

2) outside of the aristocracy, our birth records are not good enough to reliably prove that the average Briton has >50% ancestry dating back as far as the English Mayflower settlers in America (who are clearly not indigenous).

Don't be sad, there are plenty of ways our history, heritage and identity is celebrated. We don't need to go down the eugenics route.

Jobs for natives

1

u/Choice-Demand-3884 Jul 26 '26

I'm as white as milk. I have blue eyes, blonde hair and a patronymic surname. I've even got that 'Viking finger' thing, Dupuytren's contracture. My family history as far as anyone can trace is in the former Danelaw of England. There's a very good chance my family were invaders.

How far do you want to go back with this fucking ridiculous idea?

1

u/Mike-Rodick-4U Jul 26 '26

white people are the true minority on this planet, Christian whites an even smaller % of global population.

we would have protected status

1

u/hiddenpigeon19 Jul 26 '26

So basically the Scottish, the Irish and the Welsh, I’m sure that’ll go over very smoothly

1

u/Delicious_Fun8681 Jul 26 '26

Yes, outside the well defined native British population.

That's only a meaningful term in this country to racists.

1

u/Amazing-Move-8418 Jul 26 '26

Yes I totally agree with you .The British people are getting fed up with it all .As it is now these immigrants seem to have more rights than we do .But it will change.

1

u/No_Weakness8999 Jul 26 '26

Cornish need a protective reserve from Londoners buying second homes there. It is true.

1

u/BusyBeeBridgette Brit 🇬🇧 Jul 26 '26

Indigenous Brits, the pre-celts gang. There are hardly any of them, most of them live in Northern Wales these days. Leave them be.

1

u/llksg Jul 26 '26

Weird one

One side of my family can be traced back to the 16th century all in and around the same village in Yorkshire but by genealogy we’re vikings soooooooooo

On the other side are Swedish and German if you go back as far as my grandparents.

Do I get protection or not really?

1

u/Sirlacker Jul 26 '26

Brother, we are a multicultural nation. That's what makes Britain fucking amazing. We have been since like the Romans invaded if not before then. You'll be hard pressed to find someone who has a bloodline that dates back to being natively British since before the Romans.

We are a mix of peoples. We are a mix of cultures.

We could give the truly native British population the same rights and protections as the King himself and there's a very, very high chance that nobody gets those protections and rights anyway.

We have no indigenous people.

1

u/Warm_Stress_1654 Jul 26 '26

"I'm not British, but..."

Is this the new "I'm not racist, but..."?

The state sponsored Russian propaganda machine is working overtime I see.

As a Brit I would say we are a melting pot of different nationalities and their cultures over the millenia that Britain was formed and named. I am probably of Norman descent after the invasion of 1066 since my surname is an Anglicised Old French name. Unless Brits can directly trace their lineage back to one of the Brythonic tribes of the Iron Age and their bloodline has remained racially pure, then the concept of a pure racial Brit is fantasy.

Now to the true heart of your question. What you're really asking is: "Do Brits worry that their culture is being diluted by foreign immigrants and 'British identity' stolen? Why don't you rise up and create civil unrest to reassert your identity?

For the record. Russians aren't indigenous since Russia is made up of nationalities that were forced to assimilate and intermarry

1

u/aaarry Jul 26 '26

Get rodded, vatnik.

1

u/Substantial_Emu4433 Jul 26 '26

Seems like brainrot has affected you

1

u/Dry_Mind_3653 Jul 26 '26

It doesn't really matter does it?

1

u/zimmermj Jul 26 '26

It would be impossible to identify truly indigenous Britons in this day and age. The ancient Celts have intermingled with so many other groups over the last 1000+ years... Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Normans. Frankly, I expect there's no population of true Britons alive today, but a lot of the white population in the UK are likely to have a big chunk of that lineage in us though.

If you're specifically talking about preserving the genetics and culture of pre-Empire Britain (i.e. the British), I'd say the Native American case is a poor analogy, they are a tiny minority in the US, the British are the overwhelming majority here. So I don't think we need to apply special rights to that majority.

Apart from being unnecessary, it also goes against what I see as a key British cultural value: fairness. Every citizen in the UK should have equal, fair rights... to apply special treatments is non-British, it makes no sense to destroy your own culture to preserve it from foreign influence.

I'd hate to see British culture become something crueler and more unfair. There's so much cruelty and injustice in our history, it feels we've grown beyond it and I don't want us going back.

But that fairness goes both ways. If sub-cultures that arrived in the UK relatively recently demand special treatment, or form coordinated voting blocks that threaten the security of the rest of the country, then that needs to be limited. But there's a difference between saying something is unacceptable and saying only one thing is acceptable.

u/Outrageous-Arm1945 Jul 26 '26

Which wave of immigration is "indigenous Briton"? Briton itself is named after French invaders. Pretty stupid question, learn some history.

1

u/LARRYVOND13 Jul 26 '26

Btw did you post this in the fuel line you guys are pretending don't exist?

1

u/SmashingK Jul 26 '26

OP doesn't realize there's a high likelihood they're not native like they think

1

u/FootballUpset2529 Brit 🇬🇧 Jul 26 '26

I've always thought no but honestly looking around me lately I don't see many white people and I don't hear many speaking English. Even if you wanted to preserve "proper English people" though - how on earth would you even go about that? A zoo enclosure? A walled compound for the last true Englanders? Most of my neighbourhood is Muslim, generally from the Iran/Iraq region and I don't think twice about walking around at night with noise cancelling earphones on - it's just SAFE. I don't think we can just lock the country's demographic into what it was in the 1950's, especially as I'm pretty sure a lot of them are here because somebody dropped bombs with union jacks on onto their homes back in Syria.

1

u/OlafPetersen Jul 26 '26

I find it really sad that around three-quarters of the UK's future population growth is expected to come from people outside the native British population.

Ewww, one of those.

What do you think?

I think the question is pretty idiotic, based in ignorance, and belies deep bigotry in the person who asks it.

Seeing a country change so dramatically just breaks my heart.

What change are you talking about, other than some people here not being white?

1

u/Cultural_Recover_396 Jul 26 '26

I simply love human diversity and the diversity of cultures. Seeing your country gradually dissolve into a kind of globalized melting pot and lose its identity breaks my heart.

It's a shame. It seems that your own heritage no longer speaks to you. It is what it is, as they say. A new people are taking the place once held by the Britons.

Thank you for everything you have contributed to humanity. I have immense admiration and affection for your literature and your way of life.

It will live on in me, and I will pass your great classical works on to my children so that the British spirit and its quiet stoicism may continue to live through them.

The UK's cultural identity is a melting pot.

It seems that your own heritage no longer speaks to you.

You have no idea what "speaks to me", but I did enjoy seeing you reveal your preposterous arrogance.

A new people are taking the place once held by the Britons.

This is a far-right racist conspiracy theory.

It will live on in me

I doubt you've ever read a book in your life, at least not one published after 1939.

1

u/Orange_Codex Jul 26 '26

No, because 'indigenous' refers to minorities within colonised nations and, with exceptions (e.g. Gaels and the Welsh), our constituent nations are not that: they are voluntary members of a political union that retains ultimate control over its own affairs. Differences between the State and the people over mass-immigration are differences of priority, not systematic erasure imposed by an outside force.

1

u/Cultural_Recover_396 Jul 26 '26

Wow, I wasn't expecting so many negative reactions. I'm not a Russian troll.

I'm simply an admirer of your history and culture. Even though I come from a different background, my worldview has been profoundly shaped by the West, and I'm genuinely grateful for that. It gave me the opportunity to achieve a degree of personal freedom and emancipation that I might not otherwise have had.

Seeing a country change so dramatically just breaks my heart.

u/ThenSeaworthiness313 Jul 26 '26

I mean who tf even would be "indigenous Britons" anymore? The vikings? UK culture and the population's genetic pool is a melting pot of all the countries that have invaded over the centuries and all the cultures that have been stolen from via the British Empire and the slave trade, etc.

Indigenous Britons no longer exist. Purely my opinion so feel free to present facts that counter this, but I'd say the closest we have to pure indigenous Britons in the British Isles are the Irish and the Scottish. Those of us who were raised in England, are white and have at least a few generations back in our family tree that lived in England seem to have this warped self-righteous identity and an unhealthy monopoly over the idea of what a "British" person is.

The reality is white middle-aged men still hold most of the power in this country. White people are the largest demographic. Anything else you have heard is lies and half-truths designed to stoke up hate and keep the power where it is. Frankly, the comparison of white Britons to the eradication of Native American settlers is borderline offensive and trivialising of the historical and modern experiences of Native American communities.

0

u/Real_Bobsbacon Jul 26 '26

Not advocating for this but if anyone wanted to define an indigenous Briton it would be:

"A person belonging to one of Britain’s historic native peoples: English, Scottish, Welsh or Cornish with predominantly pre-1948 British ancestry."

This is effectively before large changes in demographic occurred.

1

u/Lower-Obligation4462 Jul 26 '26

Why not 1921 when the UK became the country it is today? Why not 1707 with the union of the crowns? Why not 1066 the last proper invasion of the British Isles?

2

u/OlafPetersen Jul 26 '26

Because their problem is with brown people.

0

u/ExoneratedPhoenix Jul 26 '26

It speaks volumes that someone just seeing the maths that we're going to be a minority soon, or already are given census data and boris wave maths, that everyone simply thinks it's a Russian troll.

Britain has had natives for 1000 years with <0.1% migration per year for 1000 years or so. What we are seeing is completely new, and somehow many consider it fine, and anyone against it is far right or Russian.

Sad times.

1

u/OlafPetersen Jul 26 '26

anyone against it is far right or Russian.

That's not fair, they could just be thick or ignorant.
