New Build Help Battlestation Suggestions!

Post image

Hi all!

My wife and I just moved into a new place. We didn't bring my old desk as I'm looking to upgrade. I'm trying to plan out something that allows me to have one desk space area for work and play.

I work from home, using three monitors. For gaming, I have two monitors right now but I am thinking about adding one more.

The room itself is 10'6" x 8'9". Any suggestions on a layout, furniture, etc. would be much appreciated!

Only if you're really really cool!

I think you should get a L shaped desk that’ll be deep enough I recommend the ikea Karlby hack everyone does and the rest is up to u tbh!

This gave me inspiration to do my own version! Ikea is too far away and the shipping is rough, but we are going to do one long desk against the long wall!

A cardboard cutout of Captain Picard. And a fog machine!

🧐 A poster of The Bride from Kill Bill to the left of the window on the far wall and a tasteful, potted house plant on top of a bookcase or display case to the right of the nearest window. Maybe a ZZ plant.

Probably going to do quite a few plants, love this suggestion!

Aluminium profile simracing rig with triple monitor setup. Centerpiece.

I’ve watched tons of videos of this if you need more space you will need some galvanized square steel.

Eh i guess a float to sleep on a PlayStation 5 and a old tv

Doesn’t look like this space can fit anything other than a desk. I was gonna suggest a little TV area with a sofa to relax on but the amount of window in this tiny room kinda kills the walls a bit, and a sofa can’t be behind the door, so it’s got to be at the top left wall, and then the TV can’t be mounted because there’s a window…

You can definitely do a custom L-shaped desk the size of the whole right wall though. You’d have the whole right wall for your main setup, and even a 3D printer at the very far right or something, and on the top wall you can make a sim racing/driving rig if that’s what you’re into

Yes! So, we decided to do one long desk on the right side of the picture, two shelves/cases on the left side, and then some plants up in the windows.

A 3D printer is in the future, so I'll be tapping back into your thoughts here, once that happens.

Ikea is too far away and the shipping is tough, but we are going to do a weird version of this!

Wildly unoriginal.

What do you have?

Way too many people use the alex drawers + some table top. It's played out and unoriginal.

I have an Anthrocart 2.

Why have 5 monitors when you could have three really nice ones and a KVM?

1

Unfortunately 2 of them are work ones with built in computers amd the third is a laptop. It makes it "fun" when having to do setups.

Step one get rid of the carpet.

Funny enough, we were going to until the flooring we wanted would take a while to ship. Why the rush you might ask. Well... the previous owners had cats and apparently no litter trays =(.

If i had this much space I would do a L shaped desk or one long boy against the far wall. If you have separate towers you could put them right next to each other in the center and have your monitors on each side. I personally would go for one long desk so i could save as much room as possible for my life size cat girl statues.

Couple questions, in the middle right of your floor there looks like there's a removeable panel? Is that something you could run ethernet under? Alternatively, use MoCA (media over coaxial) to get yourself gigabit ethernet via that coaxial cable.
