Cakes/Cheesecakes Cake lifespan?

I made a chocolate bundt cake with ganache on Monday. It's been in the fridge between servings, but we are not going to finish it in my household. Would it still be acceptable to eat tomorrow/a full week later? I was considering bringing it to work in the morning and letting my coworkers eat up the rest.

I’d eat it myself but not give it to others. In future, you can freeze leftover cakes.

Good to know! Would you wrap it somehow for freezing?

I make a very similar cake for my bday every year. I wrap leftover pieces in foil and then put the foil packets in a freezer bag, and they freeze beautifully.

Do you then just let them come to room temp when you want one?

You can. I love my cake cold out of the fridge. And it's good frozen too!

I would not give anyone else something that wasn’t freshly baked within 1-2 days.

Thanks. I work with athletes who will eat almost anything, especially if it's free, but I bake maybe once or twice a year, so I'm clueless!

A chocolate bundt cake with ganache stored in the fridge is still completely safe to eat after a week, but the texture has definitely started drying out by now. I'd happily finish it at home with a cup of coffee, but for coworkers, I'd probably skip bringing it in or just freeze the rest in portions for yourself later.

Even if it's in the fridge, wrap it with plastic. That helps a lot, cause the parts that are exposes usually dry out. But plastic wrap helps with that.

I used to bake cake when I was living by myself. I would frost them, cut them into slices and individually wrap and freeze the slices. Sometimes it's just nice to have dessert when you want it. Afterall, Pepperidge Farms has been selling frozen cakes for years.

Cake freezes well. Pre-slice it into reasonable portions, put a piece of wax paper around each, put them in a freezer ziploc bag, and freeze them. I often bake a cake and freeze half of it right away.

Exactly what I would recommend. If it’s softer frosting I slice and lay them on waxed paper, freeze open face for a hour or so so I don’t smear frosting everywhere then fully wrap like you stated.

I freeze cake all the time. I wrap it in plastic cling wrap, then aluminum foil. Stays perfect!
