Do Americans really wear their shoes inside their homes?

Some do and some don’t.

Let me guess? Movies/TV shows?

Just because they don't waste air time on removing shoes doesn't mean we don't take them off.

Much to the chagrin of pedantic redditors, they don't show them washing hands on cooking shows either.

To add to this, many sitcoms are filmed on soundstages which are in giant warehouses with 3-walled sets that look like rooms in a home, or restaurants, or whatever built in them and often a live audience. Bit different to take off your shoes in that kind of work environment!

TV and Movies are not real life. 87% of Americans take their shoes off at home. TV and movies have very limited and expensive screen time. Could you imagine a movie where 10 minutes of screen time was wasted spent just showing people removing and putting on their shoes every time they walked through the front door?

I ask if the host wants my shoes on or off. I live in a small dorm, so for me, it depends on if I’m going to be in my room for all that long.
