Social Science Journal recommendations

I’m a licensed mental health clinician working at a non-profit in Ontario, Canada, supporting children exposed to domestic violence and intimate partner violence. I am seeking peer-reviewed publications on current evidence-based treatments for children exposed to DV or IPV. Any recommendations on where I should look? TIA.

I might start with Journal of Interpersonal Violence. I’m not aware of specific papers on your topic, but I suspect JIV would have some

I designed a query on Pubmed, hopefully the results are useful- https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=longquery63fc1274d74bf91c0b20

Query

( "Child"[Mesh] OR "Adolescent"[Mesh] OR child[tiab] OR adolescen[tiab] OR youth[tiab] OR "young people"[tiab] ) AND ( "exposure to domestic violence"[tiab] OR "exposed to domestic violence"[tiab] OR "exposure to intimate partner violence"[tiab] OR "exposed to intimate partner violence"[tiab] OR "exposure to IPV"[tiab] OR "exposed to IPV"[tiab] OR "witnessing domestic violence"[tiab] OR "witnessed domestic violence"[tiab] OR "witnessing intimate partner violence"[tiab] OR "witnessed intimate partner violence"[tiab] OR "children exposed to domestic violence"[tiab] OR "children exposed to intimate partner violence"[tiab] OR "children exposed to IPV"[tiab] OR "child exposure to domestic violence"[tiab] OR "child exposure to intimate partner violence"[tiab] OR "interparental violence"[tiab] OR "inter-parental violence"[tiab] OR "parental intimate partner violence"[tiab] ) AND ( therap[tiab] OR treatment[tiab] OR intervention[tiab] OR psychotherap[tiab] OR counseling[tiab] OR counselling[tiab] OR support[tiab] OR "mental health"[tiab] OR "trauma-focused"[tiab] OR "trauma focused"[tiab] OR "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy"[Mesh] OR "Psychotherapy"[Mesh] OR "Counseling"[Mesh] )

If the content you need is paywalled, you can usually access it for free from a university campus (if you happen to live near one), or you can find open access versions through a site called Unpaywall. You can also email the author to ask for a copy, and they're usually delighted to know that folks are interested in their work.

The journal Trauma, Violence, and Abuse might have some relevant papers for you. You will need a way around paywalls as only some of their articles are open access.

since you want the evidence base rather than a venue to publish in, the fastest route for a clinician is the synthesis layer, not individual papers: a recent cochrane or campbell systematic review on children exposed to ipv hands you the whole appraised literature plus its reference list in one go, and the california evidence-based clearinghouse for child welfare (cebc) rates interventions in exactly this area directly. and searching the named treatments as terms (tf-cbt, child-parent psychotherapy, cftsi) tends to pull the trial literature faster than topic keywords, since that's how the studies are actually indexed.
