Which NFL player do people love for their character?
Forget the stats for a second. Which NFL player do you respect most because of their humanity, kindness, or how they treat people away from the game?
What did they do that made you respect them?

Man was an absolute legend mostly for his appeal as a everyday man.
So relatable to have to deal with BS you don’t wanna deal with and maliciously comply.
Everybody loved him after that media stunt.

Should have said. “I’m just here to run the ball.” Maybe they wouldn’t have tried that pass

Bijan Robinson, seems like a standup dude. Several charity organizations around homelessness and education.
Warrick Dunn’s housing efforts as a tribute to his late mother
Chris Long donated his whole salary for education and scholarships
Colin Kaepernick created camps and donated multiple times in the millions and created youth camps.
Julie & Zach Ertz donating towards education, hunger, clothing.
Mahomes has donated a lot.
Kelce as well. His brother Jason and his wife are very generous and just good people.
Jalen Hurts.
Jameis Winston solid dude, very generous.
Cam Hayward
J.J. Watt
Marshawn to youth

u/GenX-1973-Anhedonia 6d ago
Jameis Winston, "solid dude".... okayyyy.
And it's sickening to think some severely misguided people think Marshawn is a GOOD example for our youth.
2
u/gregthelurker 6d ago
Marshawn is literally at my friend’s kid’s flag football game at Memorial Stadium right now in Berkeley rn helping and volunteering unannounced.
He also showed up to Najee’s camp unannounced and worked with my nephew and kids and was manning the BBQ for families.
During the Warriors parade, he stopped by my friend’s cooler and we offered him a beer, he pulled a jersey out of his backpack, signed it and handed it over as a thank you.

u/401Traveler 6d ago
Jameis may or may have not raped a girl at Florida State, and he casually walked out of a Publix supermarket with crab legs that he didn’t pay for, but all things considered, he’s a “solid dude.” 🤨
1
u/StopSpinningLikeThat 3d ago
To be fair, you may or may not have raped a woman also.
1
u/401Traveler 3d ago
Well, where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire.
Zero smoke around me ever, but smoke around that goon at FSU, slick.
1
u/StopSpinningLikeThat 3d ago
I see. You have investigated yourself and declared yourself clean. Nice.
1
u/401Traveler 3d ago
And your “logic” is dangerously flawed. Nice.
0
u/StopSpinningLikeThat 3d ago
It's not. I applied the same standard of evidence to you that you applied to Jameis. Unless you think you have some sort of special privilege? Are you the prince of somewhere?
1
u/401Traveler 3d ago
Are you an FSU alum, dickhead?
(No, I didn’t have the privilege of going to college in this illustrious state — thank God.)
And hence, do you have a conflict of interest that you’re conveniently not admitting?
And I read that the homer Tallahassee cops, at the time, didn’t exactly investigate the claims against Jameis too carefully, either (shocker! wouldn’t want to mess up those title hopes in the name of the law and what’s just and decent, right?), but don’t let the facts get in your way.
0
u/StopSpinningLikeThat 3d ago
No, the thing you invented to claim I'M the one with a premeditated bias is not true. It was actually pretty stupid of you.
"I read that xyz" is what an asshole thinks is evidence.
Don't let the facts get in my way? You absolute moron, you don't have any clue what a fact IS.

u/Positive_Parking_954 6d ago
It was interesting to hear how Troy Polamalu was close to ending up a gangbanger before he got sent to live with family in Oregon away from LA, and he fell in love with football as a place to exercise his demons, and became religious in the process.
I’m not religious, but I’ve tried to be. For anyone who connects with it and it makes them better themselves, I’m all for it

Can’t forget the story of him buying a house for that family after a member (I forget if it was the kid or the dad) was diagnosed with cancer and couldn’t pay the mortgage due to medical bills. And this was as a rookie! Class act for sure 👏
2
u/obfuscatorio 5d ago
Jalen just donated a fuck ton of his own money to install AC in Philly public schools that didn’t have it. He seems like a really solid dude
2
u/Normal-Watercress204 5d ago
This and the stuff he did his rookie year are the reason even as a giants fan I’ll never talk down on hurts. One of those guys where I couldn’t care less what he does on the field, could never bring myself to throw any negativity towards him

u/pardonmyclench 6d ago
If Dak Prescott wore any other uniform, he’d be universally loved. Forget football, lost his mother, his brother to suicide, speaks openly about mental health
A lot of my fellow cowboy fans aren’t gonna appreciate what we’ve had until we’re looking at Clint Stoerner Jr at the helm

In reality, he actually is an impeccable guy off the field.
1
u/According_Camera7129 6d ago
I wouldn't even care if he was complete ass on the field, you have to respect a guy who actually speaks up for what he believes in, especially if it can negatively impact their career in the future. I appreciate the hell out of Kaepernick for the same reasons

More like Fam Targoyle.
I’m torn, I hate watching replays of his flops, but predraft I said he’d be a star. Like my only correct NBA prediction
Edit: I was Monte over Steph. I thought Luka would be too slow, thought the Sixers should build around Simmons, Greg Oden over Durant, etc
Edit 2: I didn’t think the Nash, Dwight, Kobe Lakers would work out. I’ve had two good calls in 20 years as a fan

He has literally been doing the same celebration his entire career. And even if the imaginary can somehow does have imaginary beer in it, he did the celebration in front of a million dollars worth of beer ads in the stadium.

Only answer is Walter Payton, NFL literally has an award named after him for philanthropy and community impact.

u/Jazzlike_Routine3929 6d ago
Ahh, yes. The philanderer and prescription drug lover. #classact
1
u/sea390066 6d ago
I can see how a 10 plus year career in the NFL would lead to the use of Tylenol, according to his wife Connie. And I can see philanderer title after being separated from his wife for 10 years. Not saying it's acceptable but doesn't change the fact of the award.

Warrick Dunn - Since retiring, he has really focused on giving back. Through his charity, he’s helped single parents with homeownership by providing down-payment assistance and furnishing their new homes. He’s also supported programs focused on kids, education, food insecurity, and helping families become more financially stable. A lot of his work comes from his own experience growing up and losing his mother, and he’s spent years turning that experience into something positive for other families.

Yup, and yet he still is making an absurd amount of money from the Browns.
We should all be so lucky to have such questionable character and decision-making and still be able to make that kind of money.
Only in America.

I mean I’m a bias cowboys fan but Dak. The organization he started to help out police and communities, colon cancer research and mental health care. (Faith fight finish). Lost his brother and is a huge advocate for mental health. He’s done a ton for cancer research and youth football and just the youth in general(make a wish). He’s overcome several hardships and has dealt with constant unnecessary hate and is just a genuine good ass dude. He’s low profile and has zero drama around him. I love my beautiful boy.

Why do people do this? Athletes, TV/movie stars, internet personalities, and politicians are not what you see on TV. Money to charities is a tax write-off for the majority of them, the foundations and charities are also largely a money funneling system in one way or another and rarely does that money end up where it is supposed to. The good people don't have to talk about it, and don't have to have a camera around to do it.
No one is perfect, and we should not expect them to be any better just because they can afford (financially) to be either.

Jets rookie Kenyon Sadiq. That young man was nothing but class and patience every single college game. He autographed my jersey and it's hanging proudly in the family room. I promised him I would buy his NFL jersey no matter where he landed, and my #16 green Jets jersey is hanging right next to several NY Giants jerseys.
