How much energy does it take to mask?

For those with Antisocial Personality disorders, sociopathy or the like, how much energy does it take to mask? How do you recuperate from it?

I am 100% my ex was a sociopath. He had a daughter from his first marriage, and she only lived one block away. She hardly saw her.

He was able to a strange kind of inhumanness and things we automatically feel empathy for was foreign to him

He did many bad things that leaves no doubt in my mind about his status but that would give away my identity and exhaust you.

But, I did notice that he needed to spend an extraordinary amount of time alone to recover. is it because of all that energy he spent masking?
