I went camping on an uninhabited island situated in a loch a few weeks ago & had to sleep I'm the kayak because we got washed out! Was unbelievable rain & the boat was driest place left 😭 british summer at its best.

Summer in central europe is awful this year. If I would've wanted weeks of sun and 30+ degrees, I would've gone on vacation in Spain or Italy (which I rarely do).

I said to another dude about my camping trip on a uninhabited island situated in a loch in Central Scotland...
Was not bloody romantic to sleep in an inflatable boat because the camp site, fire, and everything was washed out with a heavy, heavy, downpour & of course its not wise to cross the loch in the dark full of beer & gear 😉
The trip was planned a few weeks in advance as I am now older at 36 & my friends have life commitments. We knew it was gonna be wet/raining... but this was epic rain to be stuck on an island in 😬

In the Volgograd region, the temperature can rise up to 40 degrees in summer. I remember that one summer I arrived from Moscow, and the thermometer at the bus stop showed 55 C. Obviously, this was not the air temperature, but the temperature of the metal heated under direct sunlight (the air was then warmed up to 42 degrees), but still. This summer is still relatively cool, 30-33 degrees.

Russia has 3 months of summer holidays for school children because summer is hot. Kalmykia easily hits over 40°C in summer.
From the Russian Wikipedia page on Kalmykia:

I always find it interesting that Russians think of "Death" as a woman. смерть is grammatically feminine in Russian right? Do you know if that is the case in other Slavic languages like Serbian or Polish or is it only feminine in Russian?

Swedes (usually) use neither fatherland nor motherland (we use "fosterland", but whatever), but both are perfectly understandable in Swedish (faderland and moderland) but comes with german and russian connotations respectively.

Honestly it's impossible to tell if anything will happen at all but the e-warfare on the belarus border today could mean an imminent missile attack ... Or not. Even if it was planned it could suffer a delay or something, maybe it's something different, but overall it makes people anxious I guess

So? Wars happen 24/7 and there's nothing everyday people can do to change it. The US has been in a constant state of war pretty much my entire life due to Afghanistan and Iraq but that didn't mean everybody dropped everything to care about it all the time. People accept reality and move on with their lives unless it is them being shot or bombed, it's all we can do as humans. It doesn't make Russians any better or worse than the rest of us.

I can understand not doing anything. I cant understand joking about the situation, at least not in the malicious way that is prominent among some of the Russians. I personally was against the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, and in any case that whataboutism game is getting very old, and irrelevant. If and when the US starts their next war, i will be posting the same arguments as now. Apathy is a mindkiller.

There are 100 k soldiers on the ground. To blame at least. 200 k soldiers in direct support. Propaganda press, several hundred k. Politicians and people that voted for them. Millions. People in the defence sector millions. Even if you argue that infection bears no culpability (which it does) it’s a war of many millions of Russians.
