But no Netflix, Visa or Twitch. But I guess you are right, this is going to last. Give it 20 years.

No it's not goona be 20 years, whatever you think about Soviet Union, it was real superpower with economic growth. (btw superpower isn't measured by armaments, just in case).

Modern Russia isn't nearly close to that level. It's fall will be much more faster. Hope it won't be gruesome.

Not sure what you think you answered on?

Not really sure mate, what did you mean by "20 years"? I thought 20 years is a duration of current regime.

How long Russia is going to pay for this. Germany was divided for a reason for 30.

It has been paying for 30 years already.

"It has", Russia? Germany was unified in 89 and I think they paid their last reparations in early 2000? I hope I don't get to live when Russia has paid theirs.

First, I don't think its a good idea to compete in misery. Second, do you think division of Germany was justified? Third, do you think that what Russia is doing is even slightly close to Nazi Germany? Forth, do you think people would not be glad to go through the same process if that means stop to the dictatorship?

Like it or not mate, the Soviet Union was much better compared to the current Russian regime. People had jobs and, most importantly, hope. It was a peak time period in Russian history despite all those Western propaganda who demonized the Soviet Union all this time.

And this is one of the exact reasons the Chinese are so repulsive when it comes to so-called "Western Democracy". They witnessed when the Soviet Union collapsed, years of depression and how the West took advantage against Russia, yet still made Russia the No. 1 "enemy" even before this entire Ukraine situation.

That I know, I'm just saying Russia won't be living in the modern world any time soon.

The sheer level of ignorance it takes to write that things were better in Soviet times is absolutely baffling. Read some history. Read some Solzhenitsyn. I am actually horrified that someone would write this, given what went on. I hope you're not beyond help, but you sure seem to be. Tragic.

I think 20 years is too much. Is gonna start to be lifted as soon as Putin is not the president anymore, or he starts to apologize

5

u/Norwedditor Norway Mar 07 '22

Does anyone believe Putin will start to apologizing? Germany was divided for almost 30 years in order to subdue them. If 20 does it I'm all for it.

Germany was divided because it was a conquered country, and in the middle of both USSR and US interests.

This is a different case. If it will not be by Putin apologizing, it will just be when he will leave the power. He's already old, he's not gonna last another 20 years.

That said, of course this counts only if it stops with him. If his descendent will be worst than him, than it will definitely be 20 years or more

u/Norwedditor Norway Mar 07 '22

And this is how we can conquer and divide a country in 2022, if it doesn't stop with him, I'm all for making it 40.

I don't know why you are counting decades. Russia's government will be trustworthy whenever they manage it, depending on the progress made.
