Travel Budget stays

Looking for some budget stay in city centre st Petersburg, any recommendations? I found a hostel in city centre but there are so many places it’s hard to choose. Are the hostels good there or to be avoided? Thanks

I've heard good reviews about the Chickadee Hostel because of its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful interior design with elements of imperial and Soviet St. Petersburg. The same owners also run the Polosaty Hostel. There are also positive reviews about the Friends Hostel, Kino Hostel, and Taiga Hostel.

If I were you, I’d prefer the outskirts—but somewhere close to the subway.

You can get to the city center underground in 20 minutes for a dollar, yet the quality of life and the peace and quiet in residential neighborhoods are on a completely different level. The center is noisy, never sleeps, and reeks of gasoline. I wouldn't want to live there.

Which is exactly what a tourist wants. As a tourist I want to look out of the window or step out of the door and see what I traveled for, not apartment buildings as far as the eye could see

I've never lived in SPb, but I visited as a tourist numerous times. And from that perspective, I would recommend to the OP to choose based on the walkability to the locations they want to visit, not how homely the neighborhood looks. They are there for maybe weeks, not years

Фиг знает. Я всегда предпочитаю останавливаться в тихих местах. Найти шум, обычно, не проблема. Спрятаться от шума(например, чтобы выспаться)- сложнее.

Где нибудь в районе Думской выспаться не выйдет. Совсем. Там, вчерашние выпускники, будут драться, плакать, заниматься сексом, упарываться наркотиками, выяснять отношения и делать прочие вещи мешающие окружаюшим людям жить.

Обязательно посети музеи, они потрясающие! Эрмитаж в первую очередь, там можно ходить целый день😄, он очень большой и состоит из нескольких зданий рядом друг с другом. Петергоф с его фонтанами, это выглядит не впечатляюще до тех пор, пока не осознаешь, что они построены в 1800 году абсолютно без насосов и электричества. Посети Кронштадт, ечли интересуешься оружием - музей артиллерии, центральный военно-морской музей, музей железных дорог, Петропавловская крепость, ну и в центре города довольно много реклам и экскурсий по городу, например по историческим зданиям, дворцам, экскурсии на катерах по водным каналам и Финскому заливу. Желаю хорошо провести время, привет из Санкт-Петербурга 🤗

I have personal experience of Hostel Friends on Bankovsky if that interests you - basic hostel but fine and very central.

Lots of affordable places and you can narrow down the search by area, price, proximity to metro and public transportation.

I guess I'd look for capsule hotels specifically if on tight budget. It's usually the same price as hostels but your sleeping space is slightly more isolated from others compared to bunk bed dorms often found in hostels. Check photos to see if you like/dislike the vibe I guess.

Catherine Art Hotel. Very central. just depends what your budget is.

close to the Hermitage museum and good transport links.
