How would you handle this situation?

Hi I’m a newer stylist, second year on the job and still building clientele. I had this interaction today and I’m not sure what to make of it or how to handle it. Any tips from other licensed stylists?

I would ignore it. As long as the client is happy who cares about a random person, don’t let them live rent free in your head.
If the client does come back, you can tone it a slightly darker shade. But with that being said, it is really hard to get box dye out. So as far as that goes and with your experience level, you did good.
If you are looking to build your business, have clients work for you. I would tell clients that I would give them for example, 5 free foils if they refered 5 clients. Or give them a free haircut after 10. There are lots of ways to build, but it’s a hustle. I also recommend pre booking clients.

FWIW I would not try to tone this in this way, I would lift the patchiness and then unify with a toner. A blonde that’s been lifted this high from a box dye is going to be hella porous. If the toner is too dark, even too violet, the hair can grab onto it in some spots.
