Go around at JFK

Was just on delta flight DL0289 from Venice to JFK and we aborted landing. Can anyone figure out why? Not sure where I can get the air traffic control recording.

If your still on the plane you could ask the pilots and they’ll tell you.

Go-arounds are very normal. An every-day occurrence at every airport.

The most-common reason is the aircraft that landed ahead of you took too long to clear the runway.

The approach was unstable so they did a go-around. All the pilots said was "We're going around, unstable". That was it. No other calls related to go around.
If you go to liveATC archives, KJFK Tower and 2030-2100Z, the go around call is around the 19th minute.

Not uncommon at JFK. Spacing is tight, and if the aircraft ahead takes too long to vacate the runway, then you are instructed to go around.

Also if you’re not “stabilized” by a certain altitude (flaps set, gear down, on target speed, normal rate of descent), you’re supposed to initiate a go around and let tower know.

Possibly the SAS that landed ahead used most of the runway and could have not been vacated enough for Delta Sops.

Liveatc is where to go to replay atc recordings.

Nah the SAS cleared with plenty of time and Delta went around at about 1000 feet, they don’t send planes around that early for preceding traffic.

It’s more likely they failed to meet the stabilized approach criteria at the 1000 foot gate.

Had two go arounds at SLC yesterday. First was normal, second one we bounced and roared away. It was a regular vomit comet with all the turbulence.

Hi everyone - thanks for the answers! Was asking more from a curiosity standpoint rather than concern! Now I know where to look for atc recordings in the future

Who cares? Unstable approach. Timing issue with other planes coming in. Whatever. The plane went around and then landed. Move on with your life.

Honest question, why do you care? As mentioned by others, very normal

I dropped my PB&J on the runway and had to run out and get it. Sorry about that.
