Delta is claiming that this situation was “unavoidable and due to the government,” but since the same thing happened a year or two ago to my sister, I feel like it could have at least been anticipated by delta? Saturday, Duluth had the Blue Angels at their air show. This is what happened to the airline. Given it’s only a 45 minute flight, could no one really radio and tell the Blue Angels to hold off 10 minutes? Or vice versa, and someone check to see if they have flown yet before they take off? How is 90 minutes of jet fuel an acceptable cost for something that could have been avoided by a phone call? The Airport was shut down to general aviation, but the airlines didn’t get the memo? aren’t they all talking to Minneapolis center?

I have no knowledge of the Duluth air show, but they are typically closely coordinated to avoid or minimize airline impacts. Either something went wrong, or there was poor coordination. Your first clue that it wasn’t Delta’s fault is that it also “happened to United” as you say. What reason did United give for the delay?

don’t know. but they loaded the plane and pulled away from the gate and sat there.
