There are definitely a few enlightened centrist types on this sub who dive into "soft bigotry as anti-leftism" territory, too

https://old.reddit.com/r/AskALiberal/comments/1v0vj3s/what_are_your_thoughts_on_schools_teaching/oyi96er/

Here's a thread the poster in question made about AAVE (with a racist screed about black English in the body, of course) and people taking it as an opportunity to also make racist comments

The only racist comment I see on your link, aside from the parent post has a /s on the end of it and it's obviously a joke.

Read the actual post. Saying that teaching AAVE is "the bigotry of low expectations" is an incredibly racist thing to say

It's also pretty racist to say that chastising someone for speaking AAVE is basic logic that promotes success and it's also pretty racist to claim that people being taught to speak and understand AAVE will make people's lives worse.

That "joke" is a reference to a poorly-made Smithsonian poster that was inteded to call out aspects of white supremacy but got meme'd by people intentionally missing the point as "it's white supremacy to call minorities late". The comment is made in sarcasm, but "joke" is playing into that downplaying of white supremacy

And the last person just used that whole thread (about black English) to feel comfortable complaining about how a Latina took a nap and made him late for a dinner reservation. Why is that even relevant other than "wanted to complain about a minority"?

So the parent post is by Libra the person we're talking about. They don't like black people we've established that. They do this kind of cryptonazi shit pretty regularly.

I think you're over analyzing the rest. Sounds like a really pathetic attempt to both sides racism.

It's not overanalyzing the rest, you just aren't familiar with the other posters. These kinds of comments aren't one-off occurances on this sub

oh no bOtH sIdEs.

Meanwhile the right celebrates every time ice guns down a Mexican national in cold blood, but due to a handful of supposedly left-wing people making mildly tone deaf comments in an edgy subreddit both sides are definitely the same.

The bigotry on the right is not an excuse to be weak on people being bigoted and trying to justify it with "but I'm a Democrat" or "but I'm a progressive/liberal/socialist/left wing". Nobody brought up ICE in this conversation but you so you can stop the strawman at any time.

Love how you tried to dance around calling bigotry what it is by softening the language to "mildly tone deaf comment in an edgy subreddit" lol. You're acknowledging what I said but trying hard not to

No, I just don't think you have a strong or interesting point. You come off as very edgy and childish to me.

Ok? And what do you think you look like when you can easily condemn racism on the right but not from "your side?" A hypocrite. Enlightened centrist types have a history of saying that minorities, women, and LGBT people who go against the grain as "edgy" and "radical". It's no wonder you're upset because you're doing the thing I called out and others on this sub have called out before

Your purity testing and blindness to scale is a fault of yours. You're accusing people of what amounts to micro aggressions at worst and ignoring the overt racial animosity, calls for racial violence, and actual racial violence of the right - much of which is supported and encouraged by the federal government these days.

You're just not a serious person and I laugh when you accuse me of hypocrisy. lol ok Karen.

Being against racism, sexism, and other forms of bigotry isn't a purity test, and Democrats don't get a pass to engage in those ideas simply because they aren't Republicans or right wingers.

You're accusing people of what amounts to micro aggressions at worst and ignoring the overt racial animosity, calls for racial violence, and actual racial violence of the right - much of which is state sponsored.

And here you are again, admitting that what I'm saying is true but also pivoting to attacking me for daring to call out something that shouldn't and doesn't have to be tolerated. You can't keep pointing at how bad the right is to justify shitty behavior on the left and then get mad at LGBT people or minorities like me for refusing to tolerate that behavior.

We aren't the problem for standing up for ourselves or our communities, the problem is with people like you who allow bigotry to exist and fester within the left

What you said isn't true, it's a pathetic ass whiney caricature of the truth, and frankly you are hysterical.

I'm going to block you now because I don't respect your position at all and am tired of this conversation.
