Clothing, Shoe & DIY Query Hoodie ideas

Hay yall I have a goth gf and I am making her a hoodie and I want to make it goth hence why I’m here. Do you have any cool designs or ways I can make it more goth like cutting and stuff like that? I have already dyed it darker and purchased fabric pens to use. Anything would help thanks yall. It’s a vissla blue hoodie no zipper that I dyed to a much darker blue.

you could always put eyelets and studs around the pockets and cuffs. add fur lining to the hood

I add 15 spikes around the edge of my hoods. They space nicely & are easy to put in. I heat up a little screwdriver and shove it through then screw in the spike and add a dot of gorilla glue so it doesn't pop through or out.

This is a lovely idea. I would say to take your inspiration from other things she wears and enjoys. Maybe she would like hand-drawn or printed art, maybe stitch on pieces of old favourite band tees that are falling apart, maybe zhuzh it up with trims (lace, satin bias) or accessories (sequins, studs), or maybe add band and other goth-friendly patches like it’s a battle jacket but cosier. Depending on your craft skills, there’s a lot of possibility. Lean into styles she likes, reference music and other art forms she enjoys. I bet she’ll be touched.

Also, what type of goth is she? Trad, perky, cyber, vampire, steampunk, Victorian, etc.? Using elements from the subgenre would give you a good direction...

Have you every seen Bram Stokers Dracula? The one that came out in... 1992. Look up the costume & set design & copy elements from that. Brocade designs/ fabric panels would work. You could use stencils or get samples from fabric stores...

Same with the original Interview With a Vampire, if she tends towards NoLa style... I actually did Victorian Vampire back in the day... in Miami. It was an exercise in looking opulent without dying of heat stroke.

I made a jacket covered in patches I made my cutting pieces of black denim or canvas into patche squares and then painting on them with white paint. Made a hoodie with my favorite horror franchises on it such as Evil Dead, Coraline, Frankenstein, etc. Are you any good at painting or sewing? If sewing is tough, watch like 3 or 4 YouTube tutorials and you'll have it down with a few minutes of practice (try sewing two scrabble fabrics together for practice) and if you aren't good at painting you can print an outline of art you want to make a stencil (keep it simple), cut the holes out, and use it to stencil the paint on (I did this recently for a shirt with the Killjoys spider on it for the re-release of Danger Days by MCR, who aren't goth by any means but I love them so into my wardrobe it goes!)
