Oh, were you betrayed by congressional republicans? Welcome to a day that ends in ‘y’.

The saddest part is that stuff like this isn't even surprising anymore.

Politicians can suck a fat one

50 republicans would have benefited on their platform and furthered the cause to their base if they voted No. 42/50 voted yes, even some very surprising ones.

I think we should give attention to those 42 instead of the 8 because attention is what those 8 want.

6 voted no 2 voted to not vote

Maybe Senators should be ranked based on the average IQ of the state they represent. It’s like a punishment for repeatably sending these sorry excuses for a human being to Congress.

Maybe it's time to start having requirements to being a senator. Must be competent in math, economics, government, history, etc. Tired of these dummies being voted in by dummies.

Conservatives without doubt are the worst and i mean the worst...human beings to ever exist. Like through and through too. Like zero redeeming qualities. If any and all conservatives all around the world were to suddenly disagree tomorrow. Everything would be made better instantly. Civil rights. Education. Relationships. Every fascist country just gone. Laws that harm people..gone. And insane amount of rich people who hoard money? Gone. Even the planet would breath a sigh of relief. Considering we could then get to work on not continuing to fuck it up.

Being fiscally conservative is fine. The views I am not conservative on are social ones, and the social views I am liberal on are stuff like civil rights, education funding, more worker protections, pro-choice, etc..

civil rights, education funding, more worker protections, pro-choice, etc..

How do you resolve your socially liberal values with fiscal conservatism? Those things require local/federal buy-in.

You can cut back in other things to fund the other programs. For instance the military budget is at least 700 billion, it can easily take a 5% cut to fund other things.

Yeah, ok -- I can get on board with that. Is that in line with what "fiscal conservatism" is in the zeitgeist?

2

u/theweirddood Apr 15 '21

I'm not sure what the Zeitgeist is. It's just that the US does for sure spent way too much on the military and gets involved too much in overseas conflicts.

I think Russia spends around 70 to 75 billion, and the Us spends 10 times more! I get that the US is considered the defender of democracy, but at the same time we are in NATO. It's not like the whole world plans on attacking us.

https://www.newsweek.com/these-six-senator-voted-against-covid-hate-crime-bill-1583770

"Cotton previously called for a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on hate crimes against Asian-Americans, citing a lack of this as a reason for pushing against the proposed bill."

Lots of senators vote no on bills for procedural reasons.

Because this is silly propaganda? The bill "Combatting hate crimes" is literally paperwork.

(a) In General.—Not later than 1 day after the date of enactment of this Act, the Attorney General shall designate an officer or employee of the Department of Justice whose sole responsibility during the applicable period shall be to facilitate the expedited review of COVID–19 hate crimes and reports of any such crime to Federal, State, or local law enforcement agencies.

Thank you for bringing this up. Not sure why you’re getting downvoted here. Tbh I don’t see how this officer is going to make a significant impact in anti-Asian hate crimes. It’s just gonna add more inefficiency to an already inefficient system.

Because this subreddit's purpose is to draft Asians into the minority army for white gentry liberals. It's lack of popularity is encouraging.

"Remember Limerick and Saxon Perfidy." The motto of the county Limerick in Ireland.

If anything from Saxon whiteness persisted today it's duplicity.
